Lamborghini donated (as in gave for free) a Gallardo to the “Polizia Stradale” or Highway Patrol (aka Highwaymen?) for patrolling the Reggio Calabria stretch notorious for speeding Supercars.

Lambo carried on a tradition first set out by Enzo Ferrari in the early 60’s who donated 2 Ferrari 250 GTE 2+2 's to the same branch of the Italian Police. The motto was "If they’re going to have to chase the cars that we at Ferrari put on the road, they should learn how to drive properly.
They managed to wreck one in driving school, the other one retired a few years later and now lives down the South Coast of England. Still has it’s original blue light and the markings “Polizia Stradale” the telephone number on the doors has been changed to a UK landline.

funnily enough, i got pulled 2 years ago my a lone female traffic orificer, we parked just past a tight bend, friendly chat, Lambo Diablo comes round the corner pretty rapido and ALMOST twats her uniformed Senator . . . . made myself a little unpopular with a remark about sadly not having a camera but pulled it back by saying how lucky she was that it hadnt hit her “cos the lads at the station would never have let you forget it”
Sympathising with plod about “the difficult job you do” is my fave No1 jerk off to get them onside
