I was riding home from work (Teddington to SE London; about 45 minutes) this evening, and enjoyed it so much I just couldn’t bring myself to stop. The sun was out, the traffic was light, other bikers were nodding - splendid!
So I dropped off my bag and chain at home and went out again for another hour and a half, just noodling around Bromley, Croydon and Beckenham - and after about 45 minutes, something clicked, and I started being able to lean over more in corners without feeling like I was going to go sliding down the road…
Of course, I know I was prolly only just off vertical, even though I felt like I was over at Valentino Rossi angles - but by gum it felt good! If the weather’s nice tomorrow I might head down into Kent via the Blackheath Tea Hut for a spin…
Oh no I’m not jealous at all
Drove family down to Brighton today (for uncle’s wedding tomorrow) watching all the bikes cruise merrily by as I sat in traffic sweating in my cage. Been so desperate to be out on a bike all day. Definitely not fair
Well i came back from Majorca on Weds night, and today on spotting a bit of sun spent a couple of hours this morning tearing through some great Essex twisties, Theydon Bois, Havering, Ongar etc.
Mate there’s some cracking roads round these parts, see if you can make one of the Breakfast Club Runs, you will experience the best !!
Hadn’t been on the bike for a week and a half, went out today on a blind wonder, 2 hours of joy ! Back at work on Monday so was determined to make the most of it !
My cornering improved yesterday too! It was a great ride home (also 45 mins) and I got home and told my husband ‘jump on the back we’re going for ride!’ He obeyed and I even managed to feel great on corners with him as pillion! It was magic. I’m taking the day off today and then heading to Unity tomorrow so hope the newly found confidence in cornering stays with me from here on in!
That’s great, Vampirepink! You’ll have your knee down in no time. Where were you riding? I was on the South Circular, of all places. Not many nice sweeping corners there, but you play the cards you’re dealt!
I’m not quite ready for pillions yet, but I’ll get there… glad to hear it ‘clicked’ for you, too - enjoy the ride out tomorrow!
