The legal learner ride out to Brighton on Saturday was really cool. I had a great time. It didnt matter to me or to anyone else that there wasnt that many learners. Thanks to everyone that I met for all your kind advice and for all being so friendly and welcoming. I had such a great day and cant wait to get rid of my L Plates!!!
I will post the pics up in the gallery as soon as I get a chance
See you all soon
Jaki
You made it home safely then Jaki?
It certainly was a great day. It’s a shame only 2 or 3 ‘L platers made’ the most of this opportunity.
As far as I could tell, there would be no reason to be intimidated by the bigger bikes. This trip was all about a nice leisurely ride. Hopefully there will be another one soon and those that missed out can partake.
I am one of only two L Platers on the ride (if you don’t count the two chav scooters who joined us briefly in Brighton) and I didn’t feel intimidated at all. I think the two chavs looked a bit intimidated though!
I wish I could have made it but my Vespa only got delivered last weekend so I thought it best that I get a bit more experience riding around on it before attempting the ride to Brighton. I hope there’s another rideout for learners soon.
Whilst it is meant to be a learning experience, it is best to make sure you are confident on your machine. The ride was a big success, so I am sure there will be plenty more similar opportuinities.

Hope the link works
Had a lovely day and was surprised at how many people wanted to sit on the ‘big slow old’ bike… and then decided it wasn’t that bad!
Great pics and write up
I had muich more fun than I expected to and it was good to meet some new faces
I wanted to have a sit on the shiny bike but was a bit backward at asking (knowing my record of dropping bikes).
I agree, it was a fab ride, perfect for learners, new riders, those who’ve never done rideouts before and anyone else who’s very happy sticking with the speed limits even when that’s only 40. Some lovely roads, lovely weather and lovely company.
Maybe next time we can try to actively recruit L-platers!
Thanks everyone for a fantastic day out, especially to Jim who I understand did a lot of prep for this rideout. Nice meeting some new folks. Jaki, thanks to you for the purply-white round throwing type spinning flying making-me-run thing. Excellent idea. I hope that it will be a regular feature of more rideouts to come. Still trying to figure out though if that was the main reason I was so knackered when I got home last night!!
Noel.
Have no fear from now on I will be known as bringer of frisbee fun (as long as I still get invited on rideouts!)
Okay then, consider your self invited…
Fantastic day with fantastic people. I would definintely be up for another day like that. What about going to a different sea side town this weekend? Eastbourne? Whitstable?
Great photo’s by the way
Posts don’t get much shorter than this!!
I’m happy to go anywhere as long as it’s nice and sunny
I know the area around Whitstable quite well… I should really as I used to live there! Not sure what I’ve got on this weekend yet tho
