Got home from work about half 5 today as I pulled up mum and bros run out saying we been broken into , back door was smashed in luckily the dog scared them off by barking like mad , my mum at the time was out so they must of saw the drive was empty , also 2 younger bros were in , one of me bros was shouting get the f**k out of the house , the bad thing is our house backs on to a allyway , quite a few ppl down me road have been burgled , me thinking I wana buy a german shephard or rotweiller now!!
Nearly all the allys round here (behind houses etc) Have big gates with spikes on, fitted by the council.
Anychance they might be able to fit some gates or is it like a walkway style of ally?

Best thing to do is, call up your council and ask to have a gate put up in the alleyway and give the keys to the residents who’s house backs on to the alleyway. We’ve got the same problem at the back of ours and the council are sorting it, but it had to take 3 out of the 5 houses that back onto it to be broken into, and this was just since xmas… good luck x

Beautiful dog! Get council involved and gates sorted. Just hope it is not one of the local residents who will then have a key to said gate! That would be ironic!

Glad the sods didn’t get away with anything, but the pain in the bum with that kind of thing is the hassle of getting things repaired and the increase in your home insurance premium.

Couple of months age we had an attempted break in on our house. They fugged the letter box but because we double locked the front door they couldnt get in / didnt bother. Our next door neighbours werent so lucky. Broke in and hid when the th wife of the couple went down stairs to get a glass of water… scary stuff. Since then, we’re had another attempted break in on our garage and every weekend, with out fail, the PCSO’s are walking up and down on a sunday because theres been another attempt or actual break in, on a house in the immediate area. Its really frightening. I find I wake up to any noise in the night, just in case! When my husband is away, I’m pooing myself all night, not good.
I hope you get everything sorted with your house. Hurray for the dog, huh?! I hope you mum isnt too frightened by it, things like that have a funny effect on people. My husband has started to think seriously about getting one but I dont know if I want the responsibility…

Bliddy hell m8…the scum will try anything. Have the police been out and sent SOCO round to take prints etc? Not likely they’ll get anything, but worth a try.
A dog is a good thing to have about the house. We have one, staffy cross, and although she has to wear a collar to curb her barking, it won’t stop her biting and believe me, she will if someone comes in that isn’t invited!!
Report in our local paper suggests that 10 houses every day are burgled in the Croydon area and this is on the increase.
Hints and tips from local officer:
Dont leave keys in the lock even if you are in the next room.
Dont keep all your documents in one file or draw, the thief will just take the box and check it later.
Lately car/bike keys are the target, they even load up your car with your goods, then they steal your car.
Fishing rod through the catflap/letterbox is a favourite, dont leave keys or wallets on display or even in the kitchen draw, some guys have rods with hooks and mirrors on them.
Alarms are not 100%, many people ignore them, thieves can be in and out in five mins.
Use CCTV it is more effective, hide recorder, use hidden cameras.
Dont tell anyone when you are away, word gets around.
Blocks of council garages have been hit hard recently in my area, they peel back the corners of the metal doors, fit extra locks if possible, if you can secure the door top,middle and bottom its worth the extra two minutes everyday.
Finally if you catch them, give them something to remember if you know what I mean, reasonable force of course.
Watch out they often work in teams of two or three, and most houses are burgled during the day.
