Anyone else on this…very excited about this one!!
Yes I’ll be there.
Are you two related
Lol. The only way they’re related is that they share one Nut.
maybe they share a sack
Sounds like a load of ******** to me.
sorry to see you binned it Anil. I didn’t realise until the end of the day when I spotted your bike chained up outside the cafe. I don’t suppose it matters now but I could have taken it home for you in my van.
I was there and I have to say there were a lot of crashes. I am hoping that it was just because it was the gp? (my first). About three red flags and a lot of yellows getting waved most laps. Was it unusual?
It is not uncommon, but it is annoying. It cuts short the session so you rarely get a full 20 minutes.
Any recommendations for a track where you will get more time (someone recommended oulton park ?) with people taking it a bit easier or is it just luck on the day in your experience.
not really, you just have to suck it and see. I don’t know how many tracks you’ve done or what experience you have. Silverstone GP is a good one, close to London and a wide circuit so plenty of room to maneuver. All the circuits are different. I have not done Oulton or Cadwell yet, but they are far away enough to require an overnight stop over. You want to team up with some mates if you are doing them. I was up at 5.30am just for Brands.
That was my first track day. I have been riding on the road for over 10 years and fancied a track day. It was just a shame that when you were getting to know the track and starting to learn the lines you would be called in again. Have you been abroad? Fancy that next.
I mean track day in Spain or similar where you stay for three days and get to know the circuit.
I’m going Spa and Nurburgring in August, can’t wait. Not done a Euro trip as I don’t have £700 burning a hole in my pocket. If I did then Portimao and Jerez look good.
If money were no object I’d be on a plane to Laguna Seca and then Philip Island. Actually I have an Australian friend and he says Eastern Creek Raceway is only a few miles from his home, so maybe next time I am out there.
I went to Guadix end of last year and Cartagena in April just gone, they are a fantastic way of doing track days. You get plenty of time to learn the tracks, practice different techniques, turn in points etc, by day 3 you’re susprisingly quick.
Cargagena was open pit lane too so there were no sessions, just turn up and 9.30 and ride as uch as you like until 6 with an hour for lunch. Brilliant fun.
Perhaps because there’s more time you don’t tend to get so many offs, there’s no reason to try too hard on day 1 and cold tyres aren’t such a problem, a few laps and they’re warm and you can start learning on them pretty hard.
Have a look at http://www.hottrax.co.uk/ for the next days, I’m going to Almeria and Cartagena again this year with Hottrax. Chilled out and a great way to have track time.
a couple of my pics.
Is that a ‘sacrificial’ camera on your swingarm!!! :w00t:
Just heard about Anils off, not good by any means!
I’ve done maybe 8 trackdays - but full uninteruppted sessions? maybe half!
:hehe:
do silverstone dawn till dusk trackday!!
sit out a few sessions after lunch and then do the last 2 of the day.
last 2 times i did it there was maybe 3 bikes on track… perfect sessions
Was looking for a dawn till dusk, but can’t find any. Don’t think they are doing it this year. Best I could come up with is open pit lane.
Yeah I was told to take it off after the first session as it was sticking up over the tank and they said it could hit me in the chest if I had an off. It was a bit last minute, but I found a way of sticking it back on the bike after lunch. It is good having a bit of video to look back on, although I missed the last two sessions due to being a numpty. One memory card ran out of room so I only got 46 seconds of the warm up lap. Then when I changed to another memory card the one I put in there was not formatted correctly so I didn’t get anything on it. I was going much quicker then so they would have been entertaining.
