brake prices

hey all

how expensive are brake disc’s and pads ???

ive only got a 600CBF not a CBR100RR full race prepped monster but to replace all the brakes on my bike is almost (parts only) £400.00

front discs are over £100 each…

does anyone know where i can source cheaper pattern parts ?

feel your pain, was looking myself at ‘upgrade’ discs, then realised I wouldnt even want to pay standard replacement discs! very expensive. Not sure why - you can get them dirt cheap for cars

exactly

i was a mechanic for over 12 years and i can honestly say that even on my 306 race car discs and pads all round was under £300.

i think even merc ceramic brakes are cheaper lol

im lucky i only need to do the rear disc+pads and that i know what im doing, i bet honda would charge a mint to supply and fit.

Try the guys at Bike Torque Racing (Google it.)

Brembo/Afam/Gremica/Goodridge agents, so no rubbish. Very competitive prices for quality stuff and nice guys to work with.

(I got a new Brembo rear master cylinder, Goodridge lines front and rear and a new rear brake disc from them last year for less than the price of the master cylinder from Aprilia)

Decent pattern parts, try wemoto.com.

(I got both sprockets and a decent chain from them this year for less than the price of a rear sprocket from Aprilia.)

had a customer in last week, on a hornet. the honda genuine pads and rear disc actually cost less than the EBC aftermarket replacement.

front discs only 100 quid each? i wish mine were that cheap!

front of my bike, discs are over 200 quid each and and the pads that i run are about 35-40 quid PER caliper.

on a side note, when it comes to brakes dont skimp. remember they are the only thing that will stop you hitting that car/pedestrian/dog etc.

an extra 100 quid total on your brakes could save you having to buy a new bike

They’re floating discs that’s why they cost such a pretty penny…

Dreading changing my front discs so let me know if you find a good price!

The Honda ones are much better than EBC IMO.

Both my bikes are running Bendix pads. They are very good.

You pay your money, you make your choices.

Just an odd bit or two to add. I’m running EBC pads (the trade joke; EBC = “ever been caught”) because they were a free sample. I find them ok, but I’m a slow of bu88er and not running a sports bike.

Bought my Grimeca/Brembo rear disc from BTR (see earlier) and it seemed a match for the original Aprilia one. Six months later I found out that the OEM for Aprilia brake disks were…guess.
