BP Oil spill, whos to blame?

BP are paying for it, all the oil companies which have caused spills like this (usually tankers running aground) pay for it themselves.

It’s a cost of oil production . . . we can probably develop fail safe methods of extracting the oil at a price 10x what we pay now . . . or pay for the occasional spill afterwards.

I guess paying for a spill now and again is cheaper and as it’s essentially us who decide via fuel and heating prices . . . we would choose cheaper price rather than guaranteed high price but no spills.

Good Points both, Bhopal & Exxon Valdez.

US hypocrisy never fails to leave one gob smacked !!

recently watched a report on what actually eventuated legally over the Exxon Valdez issue, seems they spent well over the initial estimates for a proper clean-up in legal costs to eventually mitigate fiscal responsibility to a token few million.

Leave a shite taste in your mouth doesn’t it ??

" quote from a Sea Otter ?? "

Reading today, that the other partners in this exploration are refusing to contribute to the clean up costs.

The platform wasn’t owned by BP, and was hired by a consortium of companies of which BP was the major investor, the others including a Texan based oil company which was an investing is refusing to contribute to the clean up cost.

Typical corporate attitude to avoid responsibility, claiming that BP safety on the rig was extremely poor. But given it was being operated by another company it is becoming a farce.

They fixed it now so it probably won’t be in the news any more.
