So the day before yesterday I woke up, looked out the window and said to myself “Balls to this, I have to get out of London!”
Swung a leg over the bike, got on the M4 and put the nose down on the tank until the place names looked like somebody let a cat loose on the typewriter.
Enter a land where the air is fresh, bikers wave at each other and the roads are twisty and beautiful. I had arrived in Wales. And so should you sometime!
Started out in Swansea, then went north through the Brecon hills and found the absolutely epic road… The A4069 between Brynamman and Llangadog. Going over the Black Mountain, this road has it all… Great corners, great scenery and even a hairpin turn.
Carried on towards Pembrokeshire and spent the night in Fishguard, then the next day had breakfast in St Davids and cruised up the A487 towards Snowdonia before heading east again along the A5/M54 and down the M6/M1 back to London.
All in all two hard days of riding, probably 800 miles altogether, my muscles are still sore but I’ve gained a wealth of riding experience, seen some great scenery and some cute li’l lambs as well.
So the next time you’re fed up with London, “Go West!”

Now that’s a proper road – look at the hairpin turn.
Don’t run over one of these!!
