Bonneville with pillion?

hows Bonneville for pillions?? l know Triumph has this “queen and king” seat. anyone has any experience with that? all the feedback l hear is that seats are rubbish on your bum and def standard suspensions need to be changed for a smoother ride. any feedback?

going by Marlon’s video review, yes you need to upgrade the suspension but the pillion seat is comfy generally

The person to answer this is Art.

Art, art where for art thou art?

I’ve spent a little while on the back of a bonneville a few times. It’s not the most comfy place to be but it’s not awful. Mostly the issue is that the flatness of the seat means all you can see is the rider’s helmet.

found cool post on other forum actually http://www.triumphrat.net/twins-technical-talk/86463-king-and-queen-vs-standard-seat.html
good pics, would appreciate feedback from riders here as well

The standard suspension is fairly basic but isn’t so bad, adjust it to suit your weight, loading and pillion and you’ll be fine. Straight lines we’re never a problem, corners can get interesting at >80 mph especially with a pillion and/or full luggage. I had mine fully laden touring with a large top box and hard panniers and it handled perfectly well on the standard suspension. If you do find it gets a little willowie you’ll most likely be better off with an after market steering damper and stiffening up the rear suspension a notch or two.

The standard seat is about as comfortable as a scaffold board after a couple of hours of riding. I fitted the Triumph King and Queen seat and it found it proper comfortable for rider and pillion. Covered 40,000+ on mine, including two Iron Butt 1,000 milers which required 18 hours in the saddle, perfectly comfortable.

One other modification I would recommend is the Renntec engine bars

Oh yeah, my experience was on the stock seat. I’ve spent a while on that (not iron-butt-style), though, and I didn’t find the seat or the suspension too bad. But I disagree with The Canonical Bonneville Video Review on several of his points.

brilliant, thanks guys
