I like the way the Germans embrace originality, unconventionality and asymmetry in some of their technical designs - like some of the weird looking aircraft they came up with in WW2.
That’s a pretty poor effort. Nakeds are even more popular now and they’re bringing these tame de tuned things out. Even a squirrel is more powerful…

Yeah - but if by de-tuning they are beefing up mid-range at the expense of top end then surely that is more relevant to the kind of riding experience the naked bike is designed for?
Tuning for high bhp to achieve very high top end power (and relatively weak mid-range power) is only relevant to racers tucked into faired bikes on long straights where 180/190 mph+ kinds of speeds can be regularly achieved?

Nakeds are very fast and quick by any standards. 150mph on most 1000cc nakeds are easy to get to. I get the whole “tuned for midrange” thing but they chopped off 40bhp!! that’s loads!!!
I wonder what the torque figures will be like compared to the S1K…
Yeah - to be honest I don’t know enough about tuning/engine building beyond the cliches to understand why they often lose so much bhp when they configure these engines for street bikes/all rounders.
I would just rectify that Ducati are classic/gorgeous

My guess is never.
HP is just what people find easy to relate to instead of torque, probably because the figures are greater, but depending on the bike people want more.
For day to day riding and commuting a naked bike is all anyone will ever need and with no more than 100bhp will be good enough. If you are more into Sports bikes with head down arse up riding style then more always seems best.
I get it pj. I do but it’s what people want and not need. In the Sam respect, why do we have Lamborghini and Ferrari etc. you can never use all the speed and power but do want it.
My original point is that manufacturers are spending money DETUNING engines that they already have. At least put a full fat motor from the last gen bike in the naked model.
I’ve taken my bike through the gears to the speed limiter a few times and yes, it’s difficult to get the space to achieve this. Tuning for more torque is fine but I can’t understand WHY they would lose 40 bhp on the s1k.
