BMW R65 CAFE RACER

Thisbike was originally a tourer that belonged to an old mate of mine. He intended to restore it himself but never got round to it so offered it to me. I gave it a test ride and found the gears and engine were good so I decided to build acafe racer.

It’s a 1979 BMW R65 and was first road registered in 1983 so the DVLAtell me.

I completely stripped the bike down. The frame and wheels were repainted and I made a new rearsub frame. A Cafe Racer seat was made and I had it professionally re-upholstered.

Other work done includes:

*Sonic clean carbs-new gasketsand diaphragms
*Strip clean forks new oil andseals
*New throttle cables
*New clutch cable
*New clip on handle bars
*New calliper seals and pads
*New master cylinder seals
*New braided brake hoses
*Retro style number plate stoplamp
*Two new tyres andinner tubes-tyres have old style pattern
*Exhaust is wrapped
*New battery and new diode incharge system
*New small retro indicators

The paintwork on the tank and rear cowl are original and there are some scratches on the rear cowl that can be seen in the pics. Paint has burnt off the rear cans and also the speedo is not set up as I intended to put a digital one on.

The bike is absolutely gorgeous, real head turner and always causes interest when it goes out. On a sunny Sunday morning ride last week it was parked next to a brand new Ducati Panigale and there were more people gathered round the Beemer than the Panigale!!!

Due to it’s riding position it’s great fun to ride. A genuine cafe racer!!

I’m very sorry to be selling the bike but have decided to re-invest and start a new project.

See and hear the bike here- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1HQYDXXhxA
