BMW Offroad Course

Cant recommend this enough… Just did mine today and it was brilliant… especially since i did it in my hometown Cape Town!!!

Beautiful scenery as it was done on a vineyard up against the mountains with gorgeous views of Cape Town and it was a brilliant day - sun was out and it was a little windy which is normal for cape town…

not the full offroad course but an introductory one which was perfect since i have not done any offroading at all - and the guys were great…

started off on a BMW F650 - spent the morning getting used to the bike, doing slow riding and things like u-turns, figure of 8’s and snaking through the cones, up and down hills, riding downhill over gravel tracks, sand pits, rocks and grass…

i think i wet myself a few times… scary stuff but what a rush when you manage to get around a 90 degree corner downhill without dropping the bike… and at the same time missing the strategically placed tractor that you know if you come off you gonna go head first into the thing…

things I learnt today - that the bike is a lot more capable of doing things then I thought… that its ok to come off the bike cos thats how you learn, how to lean the bike over, how to position yourself, where to look when riding… and OFF ROADING is FUN!!! oh and having a 135kg bike fall on an already damaged knee… is FLIPPPING PAINFUL… so no riding for a while again - well at least until the swelling comes down!!!

All in all = brilliant fun - and will definitely be doing this again!!!http://www.bmwmotorrad.co.za/xtra/academy/zevenwacht.asp
