Blue lights but lucky escape

I was a little over the limit on the section between Redbridge and the Eastway turn off and due to the early time (6:15) there was some traffic but it wasn’t dense. I was therefore filtering and using which ever lane was empty due to the numbnuts in their cars being in pre-caffeine zombie mode in the outside lane when they weren’t over taking.

I came across a silver Volvo (an S80 I think) that had orange corner markers like in the US. As I went to pass on the inside, the fecking thing lit up blue all over the place!

I rolled off to hit the limit and we proceeded with me in the inside lane and him next to me. He turned his blues off. We got to the 30mph zone and he shadowed me i.e. as I slowed he slowed. I went into the 30 a little hot and so did he. In the outside lane everyone was flying past still doing around 50 but he stuck with me.

I stayed on the inside lane for the Eastway slip road and he stayed in the 2nd lane going down towards the Blackwall Tunnel.

I don’t know if it was a lucky escape of it he was playing with me…or both!

Watch out for him guys!

sounds like he was just warning you to take it a bit easyier, if you had got past him he most likely would have pulled you over.

I imagine he would have run your plates and checked insurance and stuff and decided just to leave it.

I think we need those things sometimes to remind us to chill out a bit.

Blimey:w00t: i bet you did’nt need caffeine this morning then! or was it a calming cup of tea when you got to work then lol:D

Lucky one thanks for the warning. Sneaky devils. :w00t:

Luck escape indeed, was prob his way of saying calm down, bet you were crapping yourself though!!

I got pulled over by some traffic cops on the A406 at hanger lane the other week in the car for speeding, I really thought my nice clean license was gonna be tarnished with points but luckily for me they let me off with a stern word and told me I might want to use my mirrors more as they’d been following me for about 5 miles!! Needless to say I have been very well behaved with my speed since then

+1 Sounds like a good bit of policing to me.

Definitely, he could have let you pass and then pulled you up the road, but chose to let you know he was a copper straight away and then checked you out.

Its not nice riding knowing you’re being scrutinised, but waaaay better than a collar.

Although maybe they were coming to the end of the shift and didn’t want the paperwork

Lucky escape and a nice decision by the copper, but I bet you sucked up your seat!

Nice police officer! I came in a tad hot behind a bike officer this morning and smoothly tailed it off to be able to filter past at 31mph… then spotted two more!!! So it was a smooth ride from then on.

WE have a rubbish old L reg peugoes 106 we paid £300 quid for as the missis crappy city run around and they ALWAYS follow us and run the plates to chek for insurance, i think its cos they think we are skint and cannot afford a good car or insurance!! HAHA!! But its always really poo pants time when they follow you.

There’s also an unmarked dark blue 5 series BMW doing that route.

Oooooh lucky…

I got pulled over for speeding once, I found myself quite unnerved by it. Have never sped on THAT road since. I am good while at work too of course.

I was once followed home by a police van late one night. I used to rent a flat in a road that was terrible for parking, and had to reverse in and wiggle about a little to get the car straight and even. He just sat and watched, then rolled up alongside. Leaning out the window he said “I was going to breathalise you, but by the way you parked, you obviously aren’t drunk. Well done”. And off he went.

Where is 30mph on the A12? Only place I know is by the olympic works near Hackney. Had a police car there I just did my normal speed slightly over I would assume by mys peedo… I never bother slowing down to exact limit or under, I do my 3 4 5 miles over and its eems to be OK, I assume you look more suspicious when you slow down to under the limit and stick with them. I don’t go speeding around or zig zagging between cars, had a few mirror calls and decided it wasn’t worth pushing past.

Kinda glad im not riding at the moment . Thanks for the heads up tho because in all my time ive not seen an unmarked on the 12.

defo a warning…if they wanted to pull you, they would have.

reminds me of the 08 france trip, bombing down the m-way catching the rest of the group…whats that in my mirrors??

an unmarked silver mondeo pulled alongside me, blue lights on…passenger waving his hadn down as iff to say slow down…then they shot off…bearing in mind i was doing XXXMPH as they came up behind me i was lucky!

'kin unmarked cars!

Lucky escape but what a great way he handled it

I always think traffic cops seem to get a lot of bad press but hearing a story like this makes me believe that not all of them are jobsworths.

I had a an experience last summer when I was out for a nice rideout around Sussex. My mate and I were pulled over by a police bike after having done an overtake he deemed a bit risky. He basically said “Ok guys, you have two choices - I can either give you 3 points and a fine or a major bollocking - which do you choose?” - we went with the bollocking and behaved very well after that

That was where. It was there that I stayed left and he went on.

It actually makes me wonder how many times I’ve been past plain cars and they’ve not bothered at all.

Definately a wake up call.

Keep 'em peeled

Talk about a decent copper. Nice one.

Probably a female police officer with PMT over compensation syndrome.
