The reason I didn’t make it to the BMM last night was because I got busted in a most aggressive manor by an unmarked blue BMW 5 series.
The car screeched in front of me to block my path at a set of lights as I paddled my bike backwards to talk to a guy in a car.
O.K I had pulled a minor wheelie, but a wheelie none the less. I had checked for traffic, none about and it was tiny really, but I know this is not aloud.
However, I don’t think it justifies blocking my way sweeney style, bursting from the car and barking orders at me as if I was a terrorist. Armed police pulling over motorcyclists is a bit extreme…:w00t:
They had tattoos, no uniforms, broken teeth and skinheads, rock and roll cops, or power mongers?
Gave me a **** load of abuse and threats, I didn’t have to sign anything and they got the colour of my bike wrong but we will see what will happen.
Just a line really to let you all know (i saw them again busting someone on the A3 at Roehampton) to be aware in this area, apparently there are some in Focus ST’s as well.
It just burns getting busted by jumped up small c@ck, gun totting ego mainiacs to make up statistics while kids are stabbing each other…I was suprised they weren’t shouting “Gov Gov Gov”…lol:hehe:
They do sound a bit hyper! Seems a bit unecessary coming down on an ordinary member of the public like that - they should save if for the real crims. Carter n Regan wouldn’t have pulled you like that - probably because they spent most of their time down the pub.
This is what I’m a bit confussed about, the man said he’d taken all my details and to expect a letter in the next three months for driving without due care…no ticket which is why I hope they are just sweating me.
Stupid question: Are they really police? Did they show warrant cards? (Or, were you in no position to insist on seeing one?)
I only ask because I vaguely remember a few years ago there was reports of a group of thugs driving round Sussex and Kent purporting to be plain clothes offices, pulling over drivers, threatening them and then buggering off. I don’t think they were ever caught.
Sometimes they can be like that, they are in a bad mode and looking out for someone to take out on. I got pulled many years ago by what can only be described as quite possibly the most angry individual that I have encountered. His first words were along the lines of:
“Who the **** do you think you are Nigal ******* Mansell? Don’t you know what the ******* speed limit is you stupid ******* ****?”
By the time he finished shouting and screaming at me I was shaking. And that was the first time I had been pulled, it left we with a rather dim view of the police for quite a while. He was just a beat copper on his own and probably didn’t get his weekly dose of nooky from the missus the night before.
From the sounds of your post it sounds like you got pulled by the an arm response unit who I would imagine are trained to “dominate” the situation, the basic shock and awe tactic. Not necessary for pulling a motorcyclist but dealing with a armed thug makes a difference I would imagine.
Finally this wouldn’t have happened if you hadn’t pulled a wheelie, so learn a lesson and do it on deserted trading estates.
IMO Not always the case tho’ Kev. If they want to stop you they can make up a number of reasons. I get tugged a lot, I must have a kind of ora that says I’m up to no good or there is someone who looks just like me going around committing a lot of crime. I know not all police are bad but I tend to get most of the worse ones. Manners cost nothing.
+1 - if you are in any position of power or authority over someone else it’s beholden on you to treat them with respect and intelligence - if you act aggressively then you are nothing more than a bully.
Don’t get me wrong - I’m not police bashing, its a tough job and I wouldn’t want to do it. And it can be a job with a lot of adrenaline rushes, so some may be pretty pumped when stopping someone - I can understand it, but that don’t make it right (on the bad occasions).
Very true, manners don’t cost anything but they can buy an awful lot sometimes.
The chances are that if he had not pop a wheelie then he wouldn’t have been pulled. Doing that sort of things just increases the likelihood of it happening. I got pull once at 3/4 in the morning on the M6. The reason, one of my tyres looked a little bald, i.e. the copper was board of sitting on the bridge with nothing to do.
Do remember that the police don’t actually need to make up a reason to stop anyone riding or driving a motor vehicle, they have the power to stop any vehicle at any time and demand to see the drivers driving licence, insurance and mot…
Yes, but don’t police get training in how to handle situations? That’s beyond the manners costing nothing which is just common decency that i’d expect from anyone, let alone the local constabulary. He pulled a wheelie, got caught and may get fined etc. but there’s no need for the abuse.
Are you sure they were coppers ? Armed ones too ? Don’t suppose you got the reg number…I must admit I find it quite entertaining when a copper starts shouting and screaming like a Gene Hunt wannabe. I know this is probably only a very small number of them though. The ones round here seem quite nice, and can be seen regularly on Road Wars.
