Well that was a bit of a soggy commute home, only 25 minutes or so but long enough to discover that my ‘waterproof’ trousers are now anything but. I’ve succesfully reproofed them a few times but I think it’s time to bite the bullet and invest in a new pair, possibly a new jacket as well (shame because i’d set my heart on a shiny/expensive new bicycle and i probably can’t afford both right now)
Anybody got any good tips for good solid wet weather gear? Maybe something breatheable as the stuff i have now does tend to get a bit clammy if the weather is a bit warm.
Still, I might have wet legs but the people riding home through the deluge in jeans made me feel a lot better
I came back from Brighton to SW London in that waterfall tonight
4.5 year old Frank Thomas Goretex Winter jacket. Watertight
1.5 year old Hein Gericke goretex trousers - watertight
1.5 year old Daytona boots, with yes you’ve guessed it, Goretex, watertight
3 year old Hein Gericke Goretex gloves. Watertight
Arai Quantum with pinlock insert - totally clear, no mist. Watertight too
I wear this stuff everyday for the commute all through the year. One Smug fecker.
I wore my new Shoei XR1100 with pinlock for the first time today - it’s great, don’t know why i didn’t get a pinlock years ago!
No more opening the visor a crack to demist, letting in a load of rain and spending the rest of the ride half blind.
Haha yeah I’m gonna have to invest in some waterproofs too. I’m completely waterproof now except vents in my pants that are great in summer because you don’t get too hot but are absolutely useless in this kind of weather
So arrived well wet and annoyed that my helmet is a bit useless too…
