Wasn’t this post about the good thing they do once a year!
I know it’s been said before, but I think the worst standard of driving from a ‘pro’ driver has to be the Addison Lee people carriers.
I really do think they have that comedy steering where you turn the wheel right and the car goes left.
I’m still waiting to come across a cabbie that was impeding my progress in any way, be it by pulling across me suddenly or stopping me from filtering.
But then, I’ve only been commuting for ten years.
Tigi, Thanks for spotting the main point, I got flamed early on this this post, There is good and bad in all
Happy safe driving all.
Cheers
Jimbo
Generally I don’t have too many issues with cabbies, as Chaz said the Addison Lee pr1cks are the worst.
I did almost get in a scrap with a cabbie a few years back after he tried to knock me off intentionally. However after telling a copper mate of mine about it he advised me to never get in a fight with a cabbie, because you might beat one of them up, but you can guarantee 10 of their mates will be around you pretty damn quick!

We were sat in Calais yesterday waiting to board our ferry, and all we could we were black taxi’s (and of course some in other colours) all with a big sign on the side saying “Childrens Magical Taxi Tour” there was also bike coppers and ambulances and the AA with them, it was amazing to see, the ferry was rammed solid with people wearing a green lanyard or wristband all with the same lettering on, It was lovely to see so many happy smiling children and their loved ones and speaking to some of them about the wonderful weekend they had all had

To EVERYONE involved in making this happen you are amazing people.
Black cabs are driven by complete gits. I have loads of grief with them. I’ve had them leaning out of their cabs shouting and swearing at me because I’ve dared to filtered past them. I usually flip my flippy lid up and blow 'em a big kiss. Catches them off guard that does.
Such a shame that everyone has really missed the point of this thread ![]()
Yeah, for one day a year they stop being ***** to bikers by way of not being in the country for a day time. ;o)
In 13 years of commuting I have never had a problem with cab drivers, on the contrary I have always found them to be by far the most courteous and considerate road users out there, seriously. For example, I always find them to be the ones who most consistently move over to let me pass.
Of course there are bad drivers out there but after years of careful thought and analysis, I have reached the conclusion that it is impossible to generalise about who the worst drivers are.
Little theories I have built up over the years have always been destroyed by experience.
Have found most cabbies fine in 20 years of commuting. The standard of bus driving on the other hand has fallen dramatically though in my opinion.
I dread to think what the ones who failed their PSV test must have been like… :hehe:

Not only, but they’re also the ones who give us more space when it’s bucketing down like it was on Wednesday or Friday. Other cars insisted on driving right up to my back wheel, as I was going too slowly to their liking, with the visibility being almost nil. Cabbies, on the other hand, were keeping their distance and commiserated with me at traffic lights.
