After going full on sideways round the roundabout i thought it would be a good idea to check things over… well this is what i saw, wish i never looked :w00t:
Front of the clutch cover(its blown out part of the gasket), ignition cover(i only just fitted a new bloomin gasket) and the breather which i have run up the side of the tank and stuck a filter on…
Im guessing the breather is/was blocked and its built up pressure and spat it all out… well thats the only diagnosis i have come up with so far without looking into it
Gona try making some new gaskets tomorrow, check the breather pipe and change/remove the filter then see how things go… need to do somat about that oil soaked rear tyre too
My old EXC dumped all it’s oil twice. Once was as you say, blocked breather & blew out the clutch cover gasket between the clutch & primary at the bottom. The other you don’t want to know as it was a cracked crank case. EXC’s do that apparently is what I was told. Can be either side from where the main bearings sit going forward.
****… from the brief look i had at the side of the road as it was getting dark it apeared to be the clutch cover gasket, mostly anyway.Be cutting up a serial box tomorrow to check… or i may be abit more profesional and see if i can get some gasket paper seein as the KTM shops will be shut. Fingers crossed its an easy fix
Cheers, i use them all the time. James is a top bloke and so is Jason the mechanic.
Unfortunately they’ll be shut today. So too will the one in wellesbourne which is another place i use, i actualy got the bike form mark the mechanic there. I used to race MX with him.
