Bird strike at 60 mph

Last night I was just about flat out in my 600 when some large birds flew right into my path…I was doing about 60-65 mph and wringing the last bit of speed out of the machine and the impact was tremendous…Bounced and wobbled to the side of the road to inspect the damage…dead bird and broken plastics…

Yikes ! :w00t:
Glad you’re OK though. I saw a programme a little while back where some guy who had been doing “60” hit a pheasant - made a right mess of his face :pinch:

had a few close moment myself, but never made contact.

did you spot this story?

That was lucky! Something I’ve always dreaded after seeing that programme on tele where the rider got hit in the face by a pheasant! Well done for keeping it togtether

bet the old ass cheeks managed to grip the seat some what tighter. :D:D

flat out on a 600…60-65 ? were you still in first gear

still glad you got away without any serious injuries ets

Ah..yes. Perhaps I should explain further…I was in top gear and flat out at the time. Here are images of my 600

You sir !!! should switch your 'puter off for 2 days and not darken these pages with filth like that C**…cant say the nasty word, oh Im sooo dissapointed in you begon>>>>>>>>>>>>:D:D:P

suppose the giveaway there was “flat out in my 600”.

I’ve had it happen for real on a bike, my own fault though. Some years ago on my 250 I came across a group of seagulls feeding on something in the middle of the road, I was prob doing the legal limit of 30mph. Thinking I would scare them out of the way, I dropped a couple of gears & accelerated hard at them, thinking they would take flight before I got to them…wrong.

What was probably the greediest 1 was late to take off, it hit me full in the chest, its wing smacked my visor down & covered the front of my helmet, so I couldn’t see where I was going, I had a delayed reaction with easing off on the revs & was winded.

When I managed to control the bike I literally had to peel it off of me, apologies to any RSPB members, it survived & flew off.

Moral of the story, seagulls are flippin big & heavy when you get up close & personal with them. :w00t:

Hmm…i hit a deer at the same speed in my new mondeo and got a little dent in the bonnet, think your 2cv would have bin a write off

It’s almost a write off now but it’s good fun and more practical for shopping trips than the bike

Hit a deer at around 70mph, did £2500 worth of damage to a hired Focus. Still drove OK after the power steering hoses were reconnected and the fluid topped up, more than can be said for the deer!

Pigeons…

they dont like me!

had two in town hit me in shoulder and chest at about 25mph…headbutted one as it tried to fly over me:D scratched my lid tho  and had a fugging great wood pigeion crash out of teh trees while blasting through some llanes, it went under teh bike, to god knows where, mate behind me was amazed!

yeah…dont get on with pigeons well at all:D

i was DUPED!!!

smiled:).

Well whaddya know I nearly crashed into a drake duck today out on the lanes :w00t: 2 of the fukkas sitting at the side of the road, as I approached they decide to fly off - fairly low !! Literally had to duck (no pun intended) to miss the second one, bit of a buttock clenching moment !
