Bikesafe Training! Please do it!

See it’s keeping with other people when I don’t feel comfortable that I don’t like. For example supermofo is faster through corners and genrally a fater rider than me so I would be playing catch up and possibly riding beyond my abilities which is far from safe.

I did it last year from Bromley. I was well impressed, and if all coppers were like our guys, thing would be better thats for sure. Not interested in cans / plates - only in roadworhtyness.

Did town and country ( at serious speeds ) - best bit was when I was leading on the country section - end of the day so fast. Anyway, I overshot the turning coz I didn’t know the roads, so the officer whos was middle out of three of us gave me some siren/lights to let me know to turn around. What we must have looked like to others – me being chased at speed by old Bill with lights, who in turn was being chased by a civvy Fazer LOL

Most recommended, and I learned a lot about my riding, about their riding, road safety ( without being boring , and how they opperate. Top marks - and as said elsewhere, I wouldn’t suggest trying to outrun them guys!!

Stop being a pussy.

They are professional riders and know a little about what they are doing.

You get put with a rider of similar level. And no-one really can go racing off as there is a copper behind you.

Like Paivi said, they control the pace pretty really. Do it FFS

?

Well, I wasn’t going to tell it to you lot but… On the first ride at the a40 I was leading so I was on my speedometer at 67mph… When we stoped the cooper came to me and said “You have this fancy sportsbike full of mods and ride it like a C90?”… From that moment on I changed it all… If you ride fast but safe, they will not say anything. The course is about to make you ride safer and save your life not impose the law on you! Oh, and don’t think that your modern 1000cc will give you an advantage on the old BMWs they ride. They are way fast mate! I would never rum from a police bike but now definitely I won’t!!!

Well that’s how most of us ride, theres no point posting here all goody goody when you know most of us aren’t

Terry, you’ll never be out of your depth, that’s not how it works, they’re not trying to get you to any pace. They are merely observers, and when they go in front, it’s at the pace they have seen before, more or less. It is ALL good, regardless of ability, inclination or bike.

Supermofo, I think you need mirror(s) to do the course, best to check first fella.

Don’t worry, Terry, just go at a speed you’re comfortable at. The copper will see you’re lagging and will adjust the speed accordingly. The minimum speed comfort zone they’d ask is 60mph, as you’ll be doing NSL riding, unless there are two small bikes with inexperienced riders. You’ll fill in a form at the start where you will need to fill in your experience and can also give other relevant comments, all this will be taken into account when pairing you.

As a wise man once said ‘Just do it’!

Hmm Have to look at which one I have left! Tel can you remember which one fell off? I think its the right one? Which I also think is the one you have to have to be legal

Tel I wouldn’t worry about getting left behind, it ain’t a track day. And besides, whichever poor bassa gets put with me will have to ride at tractor speed

Do they ride some nice twisties? Cos my Bi-plane ain’t got a lot of top end

I have done many bikesafe days and can echo the following;

Cans: Don’t care

Plates: Don’t care

Dark Visors: Don’t care

Having a good time: yup!

Putting a grin on your face: Yup!

learning something: Yup!

we call ours ‘saferbiker’ and tend to combine them with open days and bikemeets etc…

It’s good fun and you get out of it what you put into it!!

On June 6th i’m doing a freebie day at George Whites in Slough…

Bikesafe for £0!!
