Bikerlass 'in training'

Been meaning to learn to ride for many years and after some encouragement from hubby (a biker in a past life who is looking for an excuse to spend hours in the bike shop, on the road and even more hours talking bike) have finally this year taken my CBT, bought a Suzuki RV125 VanVan and got myself out there. Have signed up to my DAS in 3 weeks time and hoping to build up some road miles in the meantime to build my confidence.

Anyone else moved straight to a DAS course after CBT as a new biker?

I have my eye on a Triumph Street Triple although I am slightly distracted by Ducati’s too (aspiring for the ‘Trinity’ look from Matrix methinks!).

Would be good to hear any advice as a new biker…

Hi and welcome aboard.

welcome to LB:cool:

Hello & welcome fellow biker chick

I done my CBT in November, passed my test after my 3 day DAS in December and bought my CBR 600F a couple of weeks after, I haven’t looked back since. I have had a couple of wobbly moments and some close calls but I am getting there and loving it

Good luck with your DAS

welcome to lb! dont forget to keep an eye on the rideouts and meets section for the up and coming events!!

I’d never ridden a bike in my life and didn’t own one. I did my CBT and then the following 3 w/e’s did my DAS. Somehow I passed! :w00t: If I can do it anybody can, you’ll have no problem.

Welcom and enjoy! :hehe:

Same story for me. Absolutely no prior riding experience. Did CBT and 5 day DAS immedaitely. Didn’t bother with a 125. I bought myself a Yamaha Thundercat (600cc) before I did my test and it was in the shop waiting for me to collect it on the way home from doing my test :w00t:. BVeen riding just over a year now and it’s a stepp learning curve - but loads of fun!

Welcome to LB - always good to see more ladies

Go for the Street Triple! Lovely bike and manageable for a new rider.

hiya and welcome

Thanks all for the welcomes and thanks esp to Tiggi, Mike and Sheewolf for the comments on being a novice rider. I was feeling a little lacking in confidence and felt like I was being a little daft in doing my DAS with so little experience but it’s really helped to hear that you’ve all done the same thing!

Bad habits have developed in my driving over the 21 years since I passed my test so the hardest thing will be focusing on being a textbook rider! OSM PSM! But I have the bike bug already and am determined to move off my 125 as soon as I can!

Welcome to LB

I think miles on the 125 are very valuable

Good luck with the DAS too, onward and upward :w00t:

Welcome.

Good luck with the DAS!

Hello and welcome to LB:D

Hi and welcome fellow newbie!! Good luck with your DAS!! I did mine in 1998, the day after my CBT… as soon as I got onto the bigger bike (well, it seemed big after the 125cc) it felt like I was a different rider, much more confident and the bike seemed to fit the contours of my body much better!

I can remember being really nervous and on the day of my test (which incidentally there is NO need to be) I dropped the bike at the traffic lights… in rush hour!!! I have never been so glad to have a full face lid covered in flies… although, I am sure, everyone in a 3 mile radius could probably have felt the warmth from my cheeks! lol… :D:blush: If you get through the day without doing anything THAT stupid, then you’ll do better than me!!

The DAS was great fun and the test want a problem… dont worry about anything and you will fly through with flying colours I am sure! Good Luck!!

PS: I have a Triumph… and I LOVE her!!:hehe:

well thats a novel way to get ya post count up, having a blond moment are ya ? lmfao

trigger happy on the reply button and then couldn’t delete them! doh!

Hello & Welcome

I can’t see anything thing wrong with doing your DAS directly after your CBT, The real learning starts after the DAS
