Having problems getting my Bandit 600S to start. It turns over ok but just doesn’t fire up. :ermm:
I first had this problem a couple of months ago when I stopped off at a shopping park on my way to work, when I came out and tried to start up she just turned over without any hint of firing. I called up the breakdown people and then while I was waiting tried her out of curiosity and she fired up! I cancelled the call and went to work and since then there’s been no hint of this happening again. I put it down to me flooding the engine.
Anyway on Saturday I rode out to Oxford for the weekend - bike went like a dream. I stopped at a Tesco’s in Oxford to get some bits for my Mum and bugger me if the same thing happened again and it wouldn’t start. Eventually after about 20 mins it did get going again and I got to my Mum’s ok. When I came home the next day it started up after 2 or 3 turns and again went like a dream on the return journey. Now this morning I went out to start her up and she just refuses point blank - turns over as before but just won’t fire.
So what I want to know is, is this a faulty starter relay or could it be anything more sinister? I’d be grateful for any tips.
Wow! I’m starting to love these threads…hmmmmm…‘my bike won’t start…what could it possibly be??’
Let’s see…toe bone is connected to the foot bone…the foot bone connected to the leg bone…the battery connected to the starter motor…dee dee doo!
Is your side-stand down? Bike in false neutral gear? Kill switch on? Loose battery connection? Gummed spark plugs? Broken rectifier? Worn clutch lever which requires lifting up and pulling in, rather than just pulling in? Bike alarm immobiliser jamming or acting up? The list goes on!!!
First off, thanks for all the tips - I really appreciate the feedback. In the end I decided to use my CN breakdown policy and a man came out this morning. Of course the bike started first time  but he checked it over and said there was nothing wrong with it - what he probably could have said was it’s the rider not the bike!
He gave me a few tips on what to do if it doesn’t start - especially after a long run when the engine is hot - probably second nature stuff to more of you experienced bikers out there. Anyway, you live and learn eh? :Whistling:
