Bike theft spike

OK, before anyone gets the wrong idea, my bike hasn’t been stolen.

However, the two thefts today got me thinking, and I called my dad up, as he works in the same office building as Met Police Traffic HQ. Anyway, called him up, he went and found out for me, and apparently there’s been a huge spike in bike thefts since the start of November, something like 10 - 15% rise. At the moment they reckon they are being stolen to order, and any bikes that aren’t up to the spec they are looking for they are binning all over the place.

And even the Police themselves aren’t safe, albeit not on Police premises. Dad almost had his XL700 Transalp nicked yesterday when he stopped to grab some milk from a Tescos. Returned to find the feckers trying to bypass the HISS. A warrant card and a yell of ‘Stop, Police’ later and they were running as fast as they could.

Start of November??? what LAST year???

Know what u mean tho, as i said in another post, weve had to move two bikes today, cos the Water Board are all over the cul de sac were i live…and one of em had the damn cheek to lean over my neighbours fence and bog at our bikes…when my other half opened our door to look at HIM, he said, “oh its ok mate, i ride a suzuki 750 and just wondered what bike uve got there”? my ol man said “feck off, if you rode a suzuki youd KNOW what bike this is” (a busa)…hence our bike removals from our house till these people have finished laying new pipes…

There are a lot of people riding mopeds illegally in the areas I am in a lot, so that makes me think I need to extra careful with my bike. :S

I was reading in MCN just today that the GSXR is the most nicked bike at the mo…

Yeah I know this from my bike being taken last august… never good news
