Bike test...HOW MUCH???

So…my ‘friend’ is looking to do his direct access, and has been looking at prices. Are they really charging over £700? I paid just over £500 to do mine about 18months ago. It’s scary. Is there anyone around who can maybe suggest a good traininc centre that doesn’t charge the earth???

Advantage Wimbledon 500 I think is was

Thats about standard in north London. :frowning:

Heathrow school may be cheaper.

I did mine at Motag, who have a training course at Crystal Palace (as well as other sites). www.motag.com . It was pretty reasonable, but that was in 2005, so not sure how much they would charge now. However, they have discounts and you can probably work something out with them. I really recommend them.

I think I paid 600 (with a 10% discount) in late 2008

early 2009, I paid about £500

Sounds about right.

Blimey that is expensive, i can’t remember how much i paid for my test.

Mine was 590 all in, that was in 2008

600 sounds abt right

I paid 600 up north in manchester :s

Not very cheap is it? car lessons and test was £250

Must of been about 2 and 6 John:D:D

Not far off Jason.

Not always the case, but if someone doesn’t need the work, and most driving/riding schools get a lot of business from referrals… then they will keep the prices high because they can. If they are needing work, then the price will be dropped.
They pay the instructor a minimum of about 80 a day, then the bike fee( insurance and running costs), and petrol. Module 1 is £10 i think per attempt and module 2 is about 90.

Make sure she gets a list of good questions together, and compares the different schools on answers. A good one to start her off is how soon can I do it? I had to wait 5 weeks to get on a course cos they were so busy. You wanna eat in a busy restaurant dont you, rather than an empty one?

I can recommend Elite - it was also recommended to me. They usually do an assessment ride on a 125 to see your riding standard etc and then recommend a number of days. They charge on a per day basis so if you only need three days, you’ll only pay for three, as opposed to five or six.

The instructors are all very very nice and they’re just down the road from the Ace.

Holy crap, thats a lot of money!

£200 for Module 1 (2 day course)
£250 for Mudle 2 (2 day course)

Doesn’t seem that bad compared to DAS now… :w00t:

Don’t worry how much you pay, just get it done and dusted soon.

Ive just been looking at a precis of the lastest draft EU directive on this stuff, that GB has alreday signed up for, and it is very scarey.

How do you fancy not being able to do anything PTW before 18, no CBT/L plate riding, two or three stage testing after two years and no Direct Access before 24/25?

Brace yourself and think of England dearie. Looks like it’s all on it’s way.

north lononon motorcycle training had them at around £500, but theve put the prices up…

how many days do you want to do in training? they have them from £355 (2 days) to £705 (6 days)

i paid about 900 including cbt, however i did fail my test twice so it probably wouldve been more like 600/700
