It’s just so frustrating, my insurance broker are being great, my insurer is being a tw@. I keep sending the broker back to them with “valid little points”.

Equity Red Star (The Insurer) said a condition of my insurance was a big fvck off expensive chain, along with a disklock be on the bike at all times (when it’s not moving). ERS now saying that they wont pay to replace the security they made a condition of the insurance. Which is just silly.

The broker is definitely earning their fee though, and have been a great go between. Which is essentially their job, but nice to see it happening anyway.

Sorry to hear m8, will keep eyes peeled in se london.

With ya insurance, if you stated when you took it out etc that you had chain etc then thats wot ya use.

Was it nicked from side of road, garage etc?

John

what is it with the old shape sv’s going missing at the mo

Side of the road on Yoakley Road, Stoke Newington.

Was parked next to a brand new Sprint ST, with no lock, disclock or even steering lock on.

Guess which was still there yesterday morning.

Can I also claim for the tail tidy and undertray, which I’m unlikely to find on another example at Market value?

Sonofa…

Sorry to hear this man. My commute is through islington and holloway, so I’ll keep an eye out!

I am now on my flatmates 50cc Vespa whilst she’s on holiday, haven’t got it on the back wheel yet.

bloody insurance companies do all they can to get out of paying you anything…we should all have a go at them for making us drive around with heavy dangerous chains on our bikes which could cause injury…

I was thinking the same thing… I found someone the other week wrapping a sheet around my alarmed lock to quieten it. I told them to f*ck off, took the reg number of the white van they were driving and reported it to the police.

Thankfully, my excellent neighbour lets me share his ground anchor, so there should be no sleepless nights…

Seriously though - I love my bike, but old shape sv’s aren’t exactly wet dream inspring are they? Are they being stolen-to-order by criminals after low running costs and forks that bottom out running over a match box?

police phoned last night to say they’d found the bike in good condition, about 200yds from where it was stolen.

So got up 6am, got from South East London to Stoke Newington about 7ish.

I am now sat here waiting for SOS recovery, the Police have a different definition of “good definition” than I do. The right hand side has been pull off, the seat pulled up and what looks like it might be the solenoid, along with the battery are conspicuous by their absence.

Oh, and the 24 hour breakdown service doesn’t start until 9am.

What scumbags.

Blimey Oli, sounds like a carry-on. So how’s that gonna play with the insurance co - they still penalise you as a loss of NCD ?

At least you have something back. Ins may still “write if off” if damage is too great.

I’d say the SV’s are stolen to be sold on MiniTwin racers no V5 needed for that and the parts are interchangeable. Bit of a ***** really.

I’m bypassing insurance, it should cost no more than £300 to get back on the road, which is less than my excess. Cosmetic damage aside, which I can work on at a later date.

Just dropped it into Chas Motorcycles in Southwark, who say they may be able to do it today.

Immobilisers works kids, it outfoxed them, and they’ve clearly tried to jump it from the Solenoid as well.

Well that sounds like a result - £300 could be a lot worse.

Yeah, is better than it could have been!

I just don’t have £300.
