Bike personalities

Do you think that you can guess what bike most people ride by their personalities and other attributes, such as what they wear and what they do?

If you had four bikes and four riders, do you think you would be able to match them up?

What about riding styles? Can you tell someone’s riding style from what bike they ride?

Would it be useful to have a bike personality test for someone intending to buy a bike for the first time? Or is it the human personable touch that’s the real clincher with bike sales?

How do you think bike sales differ from car sales? Is it all about individuality? Or is it also a sense of belonging to a group of (elite!?) people!?

NoUnlikelyAgain noPossibly, maybe, meh, I guess so, but prolly notMmmm…dunno.IME, bikers are people and then they’re bikers. It’s also a hobby which is very good at letting people express what they can’t in their job/home life etc, so you tend to see some biker-bike combinations which I guess you wouldn’t necessarily “expect” to. Having said that, a lot of the look (kit, bike etc) is to do with how much disposable income people have so I guess thay plays a pretty big part in it.Why?

Sterotypes do exist for a reason, there are certain people you can match to bikes, but the world has many different people and many different bikes!

If the photos had their normal riding gear and the frequency of their riding, then matching would be a relatively easy job, assuming that exceptions were not part of the test.

But, as with all sterotypes, there are many exceptions to the rule, londonbikers has a hugely diverse riding membership, and I could probably pick 4 people that you could never match up to their bikes, and I could pick 4 people that you could 100% match to their bikes.

In terms of having a ‘personality’ test for a new bike, then anyone that posts here gets asked those sort of questions that determines what bike would be suitable for them, and therefore can be sued to derive what bike is useful. Not useful to have a rigid test, but just ask around the community and you will get a decent enough answer.

Lots of questions though…

I’m easily intrigued

yes why…? interesting questions though…

and i think the money issue is the likely biggest angle as regards many of the issues…

I for instance like all bikes except cruisers but really fancy a rocket III…just because its big and lairy and not too common…

I for one ride for the perceived freedom it imparts during my riding…and the thrills are unbelievable compared to almost anything else…even schumacher reckons its more exciting and thrilling than F1…

But again what you after…

Lol everything!! You’ll see that I post things as I think of them. If there is a motive, I usually say. Here, it’s just me being interested. I see a lot of threads about this, in one form or another and I wondered what you thought the big picture was!?

:D:w00t::cool:

Hello Spidey :stuck_out_tongue:

think the thing to do is scope out the bikes at BMM then try to guess whoses riding it !!

then ask them some Q n A’s

field test a theory
