Bike export

Hi there,

I’m most likely about to run into some problems so I thought I might aswell be ready when it hits…

The thing is - I’m trying to buy a bike in London and get it shipped to Estonia where I could get it registered and up&running. The current owner doesn’t unfortunately know much about the necessary paperwork etc.

So here are the questions:

Is my presence in the UK required for getting the bike shipped (I dont know when I’ll get back to London… probably not soon enough)?

What should I ask the current owner to do… ?

Oh, and - how would you reccommend to get the bike from its present location to the shipping company somewhere across London… (the bike is not in running condition )

Thanks,

wkduk

Pardon for the grammar.

Getting the bike to the freight company is your dilemma; courier or rent van or get the exporter to pick it up??

Once the person has sold you the bike; they fill out the back of the form - brown part I think on the log-book - and write an accompanying letter to DVLA with all of your ID and post notice of disposal. With the address registered with DVLA in Estonia, the DVLA will send the relevant papers to you there.

I just sold a bike to Poland, and this was the procedure…
