BIKE ALARMS

As a lot of people on here seem to be having trouble with datatool, not me so far touch wood (scratch head) :)What other alarms out there are peeps using or recommend ? some price comparisons would be a help as well for those looking to purchase a new setup.

Also where would you recommend buying them internet/dealer and ease of fitment.

Ok discuss

Ive got a Meta 35 something or other on my R1. Never had any trouble with it apart from the batteries in the fob dying on me. No warning !! One day worked and the next didnt. Luckily I was at work when it happened so I was able to leave the bike in a secure area and tube it home. I got the spare fob and it worked perfectly for two days and then that died on me too.

So batteries in both fobs replaced, but for the time being carrying both fobs with me just in case.

I have no idea what the difference in price is between the Meta and Datatool but whenever ive renewed insurance they seem to like the Meta so perhaps any extra spent on the alarm would be saved on insurance.

I just had a data tool put on mine - its not given me any jip so far, but there have been a few peeps on here with problems…

from an insurance perspective, my company said it needed to be fitted by a person approved to do it, but they never asked to see a certificate that it had been installed - I thought that was wierd, if it had been robbed then they’d not know if it had one or not anyhow??

I got it installed for Piece of Mind more than anything else though!

think its the same as anything you get good and bad no matter what you buy, I did find datatool helpful and quick to reply to a question I sent via e-mail
