This year I will FINALLY be buying myself a big bike after taking advantage of riding for two years on a CBT.
Im looking at Supermoto machines as my bike love lays very firmly within motocross which I grew up racing… but due to a crash and resulting knee injury I cant last anymore than about 5 laps now :crying:
Im planning on using it for day to day road riding but also abit of dirt and adventure riding at weekends ;)
The bikes which have caught my attention at the moment are the KTM450 SMR, DRZ400, Husky SM510
…one minor problem though is that im 5.6… so im looking at having to get the bike lowered, wasnt a problem with the MX bikes I used to race but if there are any other guys around my height that ride SM bikes, let me know what you went for.
superduke aint a supermoto:crazy: xt660 is defo a supermoto but just how the r1 vs gsxr1000 slang each other, the ktm’s rip on the other moto’s:) just enjoy ya bike ppl
The Duke is pretty much the same type of bike as the XT imho, and I don’t really care what one calls it. They’re very comparable, and I also don’t believe the Duke 1 or 2 is a faster bike or more fun than the XT. If it is, it’s down to the rider, not the bike.
The converted motocross/enduro bike argument doesn’t hold for the duke, it was never an offroad bike. On the other hand, there is an offroad version of the XT (XT660R), but it’s certainly not a motocross bike.
I’m never going to claim the XT is a similar bike to the EXCs or the other competition machines, but it does my head in when people can’t see the Duke isn’t in that category of bikes either. Because it comes in orange seems to indicate to some people that it’s a supermoto and thus must be more fun than an XT or a DRZ, generally when those people don’t ride any of those bikes.
