Just posting up to say a big big thanks to Jay. I am new here and was in need for some very cheap tyres as I am out of work at the moment! Jay came to my rescue and gave me a set of almost new Bridgestone BT014s. All I had to do was pick them up which i have just done.
I’m really sorry to say that but it was very silly and irresponsible to ride a bike with a tyre like that!
I uderstand no work and all that but think how much worse would the situation be with broken bones or paralised after that tyre exploding even doing 40mph in the town and being hit by a car…(knock the wood!)
Please, don’t let it happen again, there is enough bike accidents cause by car drivers, we don’t need more of them caused by bikers themselves.
I know someone with a fireblade. First time I rode with them we blasted down some back roads from Boxhill to Bury Hill. We stopped in the car park and had a coffee. I looked over the blade, its the pepperpot version, he had a rear tyre like that and I went nuts at him. That was from road riding, he does not burn out. We came back very slowly and the next day he got the tyre changed.
Sorry lads, no burnout on that tyre. Last friday was the last time I was out on the bike. The rear just started to show a bit of metal and by the end of friday night it looked like that. With no burn outs.
Rottie, Yes you are right! It is stupid and irresponsible of me to ride like that. Its a first, I have always had fresh tyres on my bike. I hope it will be the last as well.
