BEWARE BRIDGE INTO PANAMA

Hi, I have been checking back through the southern leg of my ride south from Mexico to Ushuaia and back to New York. One warning: riding the East coat road from Limon into Panama you have to cross to United Fruit rail bridges. Both are quite scary. The second is some 100 meters long and seriously dangerous - particularly when wet. Sections of the guard lane are missing as is the webbing wire on the guard rail - fall and you can go over the edge. Planks are missing, uneven, loose and very slippery in the rain. Truck drivers told me of innumerable accidents. I chickened out and took a deliberate fall!
Take note that I am 75 and more cautious and nervous than most riders. The coastal road is great and far more interesting than the PanAmerican. There are pictures on my BLOG at http://www.simongandolfi.com
Cheers…
