I must say, this shape is actually starting to grow on me now. That exhaust would still have to be changed though, I’m not much of a fan of stubby exhausts.
I like the new R6 as well and even like the stubby exhaust. I just keep hearing that it is pretty much a pure “track” bike and not much of a “street” bike. Not sure what that means but I assume it has to do with ergonomics… etc?
It’s more to do with the peaky engine which only really starts making power high up in the rev range which means pulling away from the lights requires lots of revs whilst you slip the clutch (which is not great for clutch wear), and will mean in town, you’ll be constantly changing gears trying to get into that high and narrow rev range…
Overtakes will require more attention than on say an older 05 R6 that makes more power sooner than the 06 / 08 models.
I also hear that the speed of turning is so dramatic that going at moderate speeds makes the bike feel like it wants to fall over (even in a straight line).
This can all be adjusted to some degree…
You can slow the rate of turn by lengthening the forks in the yokes, that is, put the bike on a front stand, undo the the upper and lower triple clamps bolts which hold the forks in place, then from the front wheel, pull the forks down a tad…You’d need proper measurements to know how much to do this by.
The power delivery can also be altered by regearing the bike. Change the front sprocket to one with one less tooth would be a good start.
Still, the bike will be demon on track as standard.
yes but the last of the two strokes race bikes were hitting 200bhp and more, out of 500cc…double the power of the r6 relatively…but tyres brakes and chassis are a bit better now…:w00t:
Wish someone would build a limited edition version ywo stroke with say 150 bhp out of a 500 weighing around 130-40kgs…would be an amazing machine…that would be a lot of fun…not sure if they need emissions testing if its just a limited edition…either…dream bike…
Would love to get an rgv 500 and make that rideable on the road…hmm heaven:D
This??..Only in Italy could someone bet the company’s future on a complex, high tech, ridiculously expensive two-stroke, which couldn’t compete with a 1000cc superbike of the time.
When I get money, I will be purchasing that new Bimota bike that has the 1098 engine…Loved the version before it, but it was a bit underpowerd with 100 brake (that’s a knob comment btw  )…Now it’s sorted for powwwwwwah.
