Best Option for winter hack/work commuting bike inc A1/motorways

Please tick all you think would be suitable, multiple choices allowed. Bearing in mind I’m 6’2" and quite heavy I don’t really think a 125 would cut it, but it’s got to be cheap, easy to maintain, cheap to insure and not very stealable. All the abopve are available for less than £1000.

Doesn’t need to be fast or even that good to ride, will be used in rain/at night during winter and probably even in the summer for shorter trips or where I need to leave it outside a station or parked up somewhere for a while.

A 250 maxi scooter with a decent sized topbox. Loads of storage space; good weather protection; good road presence; will do 80mph on the M-way, and is as fast as anything else around town (sometimes faster when you factor in the fact that you’re not changing gears).

gpz 500 lovely bike will go on forever…

Thanks, which one of them will have the lowest bars as standard ?

Would have had Hornet, Fazer and Bandit up there too but most of them are too expensive.

Old Transalp or XRV.

Go for the CB500 and fit a top box, easy to ride, cheap to buy and nothing on it to worry about it getting damaged, plus it’s a Honda so will no doubt be still running around after we’ve all passed away!

I’d go for an old steel framed CBR600 or a ZZR600

Definitely a Honda!

I wouldnt have thought it mattered as its only a winter hack.

CB500 all the way, doz wot it sez on the tin

Looks like the Honda to me

The Divvys had a fair following too I think, but not as strong as the Honda

CB 500 for me too!

If your budget will allow, maybe a xt125x which is good for people over 6ft, ever thought about a bandit?

Welcome aboard

Pop yourself in the Newbie section and say Hi

GS500, i courier on one therefore… basically theres less to go wrong on a GS
