Any suggestions for best boots for commuting please? Under £100 all-weather, sturdy but stylish. Been using steel toecapped workboots for ages but now falling apart. New bike on the way so thinking should get some newer (read ‘safer’) kit too. Thanks
I`ve never bought a pair of boots under £150. Good quality and value for money buy Hien Gericke boots.
I just got a pair of Sidi Vertigo’s not the waterproof ones but got them for £130ish from rex judd. Just stick your waterproofs over the zip seam though and i’m sure you’ll pretty much be good to go!

Thanks. Was thinking of getting Hein Gerricke boots. Sidi’s a bit ott for commuting but they do look smart.
ive got a pair of sheltex hein gericke boots for about £80 which are very waterproof. however, you wont go wrong with a pair of para boots from your local army surplus store. They will be about £20, very waterproof and very strong.
i would never recommend steel toe caps. i used to work with a guy whose nickname was 2 toe trev. he got this name cos thats the amount of toes he had left after coming off his bike wearing a pair of steels!
Got Sheltex HG too, in compare to racing SIDIs they seemed not very comfy when new but after a couple of weeks they’re fine. Very warm, waterproof and what’s important for commuting - sturdy, fat soles which don’t get worn so fast - unlike all SIDI’s
Got Gaerne boots, were 150 I think, but you can probably get em cheaper if you shop around, they are god like the sidis cos they have vertical protection, which means in a crash you are less likely to snap your ankle due to a lateral impact.
Steel toe caps are not recommended (+1 to the guys above) they will take your toes off in a crash.
Ive just recently bought a set of Frank thomas boots, they are a new sports winter boot, they are for frank thomas actually very good, very warm, comftable, waterproof! and all for the price of £120!!![]()
i Have a pair of Dainese for commuting, they are very good waterproof and warm, although they haven’t the protection that my SIDI boots have. But that are a lot cheaper!Might look at the Frank thomas for my next ones!
alpinestars from my experiance.
had the sm3 gore tex boots for just under 2 years. kept my feet warm & dry. Also saves my feet / ankles from serious damage when i had my accident 4 months ago. they were also the best fitting boots i had tried!
Thanks all.
Daytona Vogager Goretex - £180 but worth every penny. Really comfortable all year round and I am happy to wear them to football matches etc. when I go by bike.
Spending less than £100 on boots is a false economy - better boots last longer, are more comfortable and provide much higher protection to a high risk area of the body. I would say that after the helmet they are the next most important item.

+1 for me, I have the HG Tuareg and so does Wee Haggis, warmest boots ive ever had in Winter, coolest ever in Summer - I don’t know how they do it but they are the best all round boots I have ever had. Absolutely no leaks and comfy as hell - you can walk miles in them and they have very good protection/thick soles for commuting. £120.00 when I bought them and I will never buy another boot, I just hope they don’t ever stop making them.
Imagine my disappointment, I thought this was best boobs!

Body, Bike or otherwise!
These boots are made from 100% win and awe, £150 and worth every single last penny.
They say not waterproof but ive been out in the sodding rain in them and kept my feet bone dry shrug
Keeps my feet warm in the cold
Keeps my feet cool in the heat
Pricey but then again, I rather enjoy being able to walk, and if I came off my bike, I’d feel happy wearing them rather than anything else on my feet.
Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten.
oxtar matrix 2 goretex £149.99 RRP 100%waterproof mine have not leaked in 3 years, and i was a courier in them.
£120 if you ring this guy
phone alex at rex judds clothing he will do you a good deal 0208 328 7659 tell him i told you to phone.
Isn’t it funny how the Clothing people at Rex Judds are as nice as pie when theres a deal to be made but are total w&nkers the rest of the time.
Don’t buy anything made by Sidi…Build quality is sh*te…Stereotypical Italian costs alot, looks good, has style but built like crap philosophy going on with them in my humble opinion.
Buy some German boots…Will look like slabs of concrete, but will last a lifetime most likely.
