bent scooter bars - cage red light jumper

hey paivi/knowledgeable peeps in the vespa dept

some tool jumped the red on kingsway on thurs and my girl binned her scoot trying to stop in time. Fortunately wasn’t going quickly as she’d just pulled away from the lights but the front end skidded away in the wet.

the vespa mostly dropped to one side the handlebars are now out of alignment. i haven’t had a chance to see it yet but was wondering whether you have to remove anything to get to the head bolt and what size its likely to be so i can take tools?

Sod’s,

Is GF OK, did she get the tool who jumped the lights reg ?

yep, she’s ok altho a bit gutted about her scoot (i have to admit having a minor heart in mouth moment when she said she’d had a spill on the phone - never a call you want to receive).

no-one got his plate unfortunately. i think she’d scrubbed off her speed before it tucked/tipped, so mostly just banged the bars and took some gravel rash to the side of the scoot. she was wearing protective gear too. guy in the cage next to her was alarmed that he might have hit her in the process but fortunately hadn’t.

Must be love…

Glad she’s ok, and scoots can’t be that complicated can they? Says he who has trouble putting a socket set together

yep, she loves my bike

glad to hear the missus is ok…never nice getting that call…hope you can get the scoot fixed. Shout if you need a hand fixing it up.

Hey mate, sorry to hear the gf had an accident, but relieved to hear she’s OK!

Unfortunately, I know next to nothing (or less… :blush about the mechanics, but you could give Michael or Maurizio a call at Scooters Ltd in Fulham 020-7385 9527. Normally they’re happy to help without telling you that you need to bring the bike in.

like he said - just force the handlebars back straight with the wheel by whacking it against the opposite steering lock. make sure you do it good and hard.

this will work for your first three crashes, but thereafter you will have to pull open the tupperware and tighten things up on the inside. [damhik]

great, thanks for the advice all
