I am thinking to fit a oximiser charging lead to the battery, so I don’t need to keep opening the seat everytime when I want to charge the battery and the question is when I disconnect the battery from the bike then reconnect it bake, will it mess up my alarm?
I kind of think I heard people said something about battery and alarm after they disconnect it. My alarm is Meta257TV2.
many thanks in advance
If the alarm is only immobilized then disconnecting the battery will not cause the alarm to sound, just reconnect your battery, turn ignition on the off, all will be hunky dory
How it works
Some alarms, and I sure the Meta is one of them, monitor for fluctuations in battery voltage to guard against hot wiring, any blip in battery voltage will trip that function of the alarm.
Therefore if the alarm is armed and you connect or disconnect a battery charger you will trip the alarm or, if you use an intelligent type charger that switches charging on and off to keep the battery at an optimum level of charge that will trip the alarms hot wire function too.
If your battery and charging system is in good condition and your motorcycle is used daily, or even just at the weekends there should be no need for it to be connected to a charging system. Standby current drain including power for the ECU, clock, alarm etc, should be minimal and a typical motorcycle battery in good condition should be able to cope with that for at least 3 or 4 weeks and still start on the button.
