Bandit forks

Have the forks off the Bandit and thinking of respraying them.

What do you reckon:

Is it best to wait and get them powder coated sometime?

Will smoothrite be tough enough?

Black or Silver?

I know where you park your bike:)! I used to work in the building on the corner - don’t worry I wont say where.

Personally I’d powdercoat them. Its tougher - little more expensive but worth it in the long run, and I’d go black, also while you’ve got the fork legs off I’d do the yokes and risers to.

Great.

I’ll wait till I have them off again then.

Perhaps when I get a second bike, or is that just a dream.

just give em a nice polish, not mirror finish though, i have always thought not worth the hassle of painting forks with the amount of sh1te that hits em from the road/brake dust/wear and tear etc, if polished, you just wipe em over after.

Wipe em over? I polished the xjr forks/wheels/rearsets pillion hangers and other little bits, tool me frightfully ages to clean the bastard. Wont polish anything anymore, definitely not worth all the sore thumbs.

I’d probably even get the rocket cover off and paint that too and rearsets.

Are the forks on a Bandit 600N 1998 polishable then??

I am a bit of a polishing junkie…sad I know

Powdercoat is the daddy, had my VTR ones done recently in Satin Black. Polish is sooo last century and once you’ve exposed that alloy you have a job for like and sore fingers forever:D

You can get a nice finish with Satin Black Smoothrite and you don’t need to strip the forks down to do it this way;)

Slap-dash if you ask me :stuck_out_tongue:

So many decisions…dear oh dear.

It’s only a Bandit;):P:D
