muggins here has put her back out. It was my own fault for moving a 40 litre vat of water last Saturday and not bending down properly. A week later and I am still in quite a lot of pain. ibruprofen only works temporarily before I’m back to square one. It’s my very lower back and gives off some painful twinges. If anyone has any ideas (apart from a trip to the osteopath), please let me know!
Fitness First Gyms have Sports Masseurs and you dont have to be a member to book, a little bit more pricey than being a member (who have to pay extra too) but they are good. One of their bigger facilitys is the best bet as they tend to have all the quality attractions and people in the “flaship” locations. best of luck
Why not a trip to the osteopath, or even better, a chiropractor? Much better, and often cheaper than masseurs. All a masseur does is massages the muscles, but you may have damaged a disc, in which case, you’ll need a chiro.
Sorry about that girl! Where was your man to move heavy objects to you? Put him to do the bad jobs, I would… lol
Get Chuffster to walk up and down your back*.
If it doesn’t cure you, it’ll make you feel so bad you’ll not hang about getting to the specialists and thus getting fixed.
Ibruprofen pah! Go get it fixed lady. It’s yer back FFS and they don’t get better on their own.
*No medical knowledge is involved.
sounds like you have pulled your muscle, i did it 8 yrs ago, now if i dont warm up my muscle before playing sport or lifting it goes again. I use the Ibruprofen gel which works well, and (don’t have to) sleep on the floor for 1-2 nights does the trick aswell! But you will have to see someone soon cos to stop it re occuring you need to re-strengthen/re-build your muscle!
This is just from previous experiance - but hope it helps
Sound like you have a trapped nerve. Cure… rest, anti-inflmatories (spelling?), physio or see a chiropractor.
Good luck, ive had it twice and dont wish it on anyone. Mine was worse as i had a trapped nerve AND a slipped disc.
Theres loads of things that you could have done to your back but the chances are you
ve pulled a muscle or ligament and its the swelling pressing on other areas causing pain. Don
t lift anything like that again Firestorm unless your competing in weightlifting competions and even then theyll warm up and stretch beforehand. Rest your back and it should get better as the swelling goes down. If the pain does not go then it
s a doctors appointment.
poor you!!
i have had many years with back trouble both in the upper and lower regions of the back(right now i have a muscle thats notted up under my shoulder blade causing a shite load of pain!)
My main problem with my lower back was caused when i was overcome with chemical vapours that had escaped from some containers that i was delivering and fell asleep behind the wheel at 70mph…i hit an articulated lorry and went through the windscreen my legs where trapped as the dashboard had collapsed thus trapping me half in the vehicle and half out!
luckily enough i walked out of the hospital that night(with two titanium legs) and 10 years later still have the odd back trouble mainly a trapped nerve causing siatica.
methods that help …co-codamol (good Painkiller)
chiropractor i find they are better than an osteopath (they hurt you less)
hot and cold compress…pkt frozen peas on the affected area for 10mins then a hot water bottle for the same, repeat process untill you cannot stand the extreme temperature changes!
i hope this helps…get well soon
FS in a Dcup, get it sorted. Having suffered the same a few years ago I know how painful it is. Off to the Chiro for you.
Best thing for bad backs is lots of movement walking around, I know it hurts but if you lie still it locks up even more. Also lie flat on your back head facing the ceiling, tense your lower back slightly and make sure there is a gap between the floor and the small of your back. Do this regularly and walk round the house a few times now and again. Get the old man down to the chemist and pick up some Tiger balm too! It works wonders, its a small pot of cream, rub it on the pain area and it gets burning hot, after 30 minutes or so it totally relaxes your muscles and relieves the pain.
Trust me this works. I was badly beaten up as a teenager and thrown onto a high curb on the small of my back. I have suffered pains for years and the damage is not repairable and will last the rest of my life. I get back pain very regularly
lower back pain ! eeeek! I loath it with a passion ! having had it for the last 3-4 years! get to see an oesteopath or a chiropractor to ensure you have’nt put something out. ibubrufen works well as both a painkiller and an anti-inflametry but follow the instructions ! at night use a small folded towel to pack out the curve of your waist (assuming there is one ;-)) this will stop your spine relaxing into that void and putting pressure on the damaged area, also a spare pillow between your knees will help in the same way, exercises are best prescribed by the physio who sees you, get well soon.
cheers for all the advice. I’ve still got twinges today but at least I can move! I will make an appointment to see my osteopath in Eltham tomorrow if it’s still not right. Everywhere was closed yesterday.
