AUTOMATIC SPEED CONTROL AND BIKES

I know you lot don’t give much credence to MCN, but they have been mischief making (again) regarding the BMF’s response to the Intelligent Speed Adaption (ISA) bike.

Motor Cycle News, the weekly newspaper, has been running a story over the past few weeks about the ISA (Intelligent Speed Adaptation) bike. It has also carried a story in this week’s issue (23/8/06) which says that the BMF has given the ‘thumbs up’ to the bike. This is untrue and is misleading. Below is an article written by BMF spokesman Jeff Stone for the BMF magazine, Motorcycle Rider.

This is a shock and I am lost for words MCN not telling the truth and soundling like the Mail but covering bikes

Poor old Jeff was very upset though and he asked me to let peeps know that MCN was lying!

If they ever put that in Bikes… I’m going to make a living out of taking it out - no matter how hard it may be… that’s going too far - we may not have a choice though, ehh -

Unless we all join the police force… - theirs must be unrestricted

I assume that they will be fitting the same to all cars then too I will start p1ssing £50 notes before that happens.

It has been tested in 5,500 cars in Sweden and 50 cars over here.

The point is that if we and other motorised transport users are to defeat this type of technology, it must be on a civil liberties platform, because as can be seen, the technology will be up to the job eventually.

If you log on to MCN they are doing a petition about this , probably wont do no good as the government seem to regard its citizens as a nuisance rather than listening to what they actually want from them , but its worth a try i suppose,

I still cant see how they could ever allow it on the road and claim it safe as there will always been a need or a situation where being limited to a certain speed could be extremely dangerous. Plus I wouldnt feel safe not being in control.

But there is no point in fighting it on technical grounds, because even if it isn’t quite right now, it eventually will be.

We need to fight it on a civil liberties platform.

I still dont see how they can possibly enforce that safely so that your car or bike is pretty much taken out of your control.

I know it works with planes but with out roads the way they are cant see it as ever being safe.
