Been looking around for a while now at Onbike / Helmet cams and this one keeps popping up everywhere, so my guess is that there either really good or they cant sell them so everyones knocking them out cheap.
Prices ive found range from £50 to £110 for exactly the same camera, but are they any good??
Ideally im looking for one that would record like any video camera but have the ability to cut frames out as still images, as far as im aware this one dosent do that but for the money seems pretty good.
Im not after anything flash, just fancied filming the sunday hoon’s and general messing about, so dont need anything expensive, so my question for all you lovely people is Are these cameras anygood? or could you recommend a similar product that would also do still images for similar money?
The video quality is on the ugly side of decent, the audio quality is crap. For youtube clips, it’s alright I guess, but for anything more, no way.
It doesn’t have a display, so fitting it on the bike (with a decent framing) is a trial and error process and the lens isn’t so wide either. On my GSR I have it fitted on the handlebar and from there it can’t get both the instruments and the road ahead.
It’s quite a bulky thing and though I never tried, I don’t think it would stay strapped to a helmet at over 60-80mph.
I never thought about this before… Although I wouldn’t’ve thought police could take the cam off you - only their evidence should be allowed against you surely, plus you could just hope they don’t notice it
Anyway - I was going to buy the ATC5k which looked pretty decent and fairly well priced. Not sure how much better it is from the ATC2k or the 3k though… Try googling and youtube to find clips filmed with it perhaps.
I’m putting a cam on my bike, but I’ve bought an Archos 605 media player/recorder and a 480line bullet cam… Not sure how good it’ll be though yet… :ermm:
I’ve got a 5k as well, recommended by Seb. Haven’t had a lot of chance to use it tbh but so far I’m happy with it. Don’t know if the 2k cuts it really.
