Spent about 4 hours this morning driving around in Essex, found some great little roads out and about. However, I do have new tyres so was taking it relatively easy but was out there for about 3 hours and I think I finally got them down to the point where I can start to work on the chicken strips.
Let me know what you think, or if I need to scrub them in more before I start to work on taking out the chicken strips.
55miles from the shop to my house, lot of motorway.
Then this morning, I filled up the bike and I only had 30miles on it when i parked it in the garage, so it must have been at 85 when I filled it up and when I put it back in the garage I think I had put another 80 miles on it. So perhaps 120 miles?
You mean on the rims StuntMartin? That is just dirt, tis the curse of white rims! they were cleaned when I had the tyres put on, and they still look dity after just 180 odd miles of dry riding.
No, these are scrubbed http://londonbikers.com/forums/Topic708704-58-1.aspxDon’t be a poof Kaos, tyres today are almost ready to go, they only need a few miles to take the shine off. I had a brand new tyre on the K7 last night for the FNR a compound I’ve never used before either. If you keep thinking and worrying about them then you will feck up.
Just don’t expect to get your knee down on the first corner or you will be asking for trouble
Use your head and be guided by the ‘feel’ of your bike.
True enough Ang, I felt pretty good by the end of my morning sessions, I think I found the BCR route from HH, some pretty scary bends, if I was completely honest…if cars had been coming in the opposite direction it would have been quite worrying, sometimes I had to use more of the road then I planned going into the corner…not the best situation to be in.
By the end of the session though the tyres felt pretty good, still getting used to them though, they are quite different from the Battleax BT014s I had on before, much better i think.
if they got that many miles on them they will be fine, once they get warm the ‘shine’ starts to go…juts be gentle with them when they are new, and remember to build lean angles up slowly as you will be leaning on unsed new rubber the more you lean.
Got me knee down this afternoon, for the first time ever, on them…very briefly but still, and they were fine, got about 1-2mm of chicken strip on the left hand side to lose but the right hand side is clear to the edge.
Man that video is crazy Alex, I had no idea I was that close all the way around on that try, felt like I was miles off and then dipped down to get it, but from the video I was literally a few inches away the entire time
