Arai - Quantum vs Chaser V - Opinions?

I am going to get a new helmet! Exciting!

Went into Infinity Great Portland Street today where I must say the chap was extremely helpful. I’m undecided on the one to go for, either the Quantum or the Chaser-V.

Quantum
-Inner lining can be fully removed, it’s a sort of wicking fabric that feels different to the Chaser
-Has a little breath guard, and a small hood under the chin
-More expensive
-More venting
-The new Quantum ST is out in Feb, so if I buy one now it will soon be super-seeded by the newer model and the older stock will probably plummet in price…

Chaser-V
-Lining feels softer but it’s not fully removable
-No breath guard or chin hood
-It’s a new-ish design so will have longevity
-Cheaper
-Less venting

I’d be very interested to hear from anyone who has either model so feel free to give your opinions…

I know there are other brands but Arai fits my head shape the best, I’ve worn them for hours and hours with no discomfort… Will be Arai for me!

Did the chap have tattoos and a goatee?

As for the helmets, the Quantum replace the Viper-GT that I have. I found the GT to be an excellent helmet, although a bit noisy (earplugs help). When I came to replace the Viper-GT I very nearly got the Quantum, the Chaser didn’t feel right, it only lost out to the Schuberth C3. I’ll probably still buy one late so I have a non flip helmet as well.

Cheers Kev, it wasn’t the tattoo guy this time, it was a shorter guy that rides an R6…

I think I’m leaning towards the Quantum but I need to get back to the shop and stick it on my nut for a good 15 minutes or so to get a solid feel for it.

I am gonna be well annoyed though when the Quantums will undoubtably dive in price in the new year…

I have a Viper-GT, great helmet but I wear ear plugs so can’t really say if it’s any nosier than an AGV that I have.
Did not realise how much they have gone up since I bought my last one, £500 :w00t:

Yeah I always wear earplugs, I suppose all helmets are noisy to a certain extent…

Yeah not bloody cheap these things! £450…

The chap with the tats is Jonnie, and he’s a sound bloke.

As for the price, all things Japanese are expensive due to the currency problems hence why Japanese bike prices went through the roof the other year.
