playing with the idea of July 4
Ill be there 20th June and 5th July if you guys or anyone else would like to meet up. Ill be instructing with Focused.
nope, will never do a track evening again after a mate died on one last year.
the mentality of track evening attendees is diabolical compared to the day crew.
sorry if you don’t like my opinions.
Agreed dibble - I’ve found that they tend to be much more hectic, people trying to pack it in after a long days work, only two groups so a worse skills mix, and limited time – Thats why I have it under consideration.
Sorry to hear the very sad news of your loss dibble, thats a tragic accident. This is a very rare occurance but for sure when im instructing i wont let anyone get away with dangerous riding. Im all for riders going quickly but doing it skillfully and safely is the key.
Anyone who wants guidance at a trackday or is going on the above dates, i`ll be there to help and will be happy to do so. I still think the track is the best place to improve your riding skills and make you an overall safer and more skillful rider on the road.
B,
I completely agree, but track EVENINGS are not the place, in my opinion, the attendees as has been stated come from two camps in the main, people that were there all day and decide to keep going, so book the evening as well, tiredness, fatigue and dehydration sets in and they lose concentration, add to them the people that have rushed home, rushed to the circuit and dont want to waste a minute of their limited time so they rush off into the scenery, or even worse into you or one of your mates.
Just not worth the risk.
Your boss knows all about my mate, it was on one of his track evenings it happened.
I’m with you on that one mate, especially after getting taken out at Brands the last evening session I did…
You have a good point there Dibble. Thanks for the comments, ill certainly pass them on to Focused. All i can say is that Focused are working hard continually to improve safety and because of this they are still here. Many other trackday companies havegone under` due to so much litigation against them.
Lets hope standards continue to improve and the track is somewhere all riders can have access to. It would be a big loss if it all came to end.
no need to pass them to Focussed, they have heard it all before and still continually do all the things that annoy us as customers.
also please name which of the trackday companied folded due to litigation ?? this i’d be interested to here, most have ceased trading due to the economic climate and being squeezed out of circuits by organisers prepared to pay over the odds for crad dates just to secure the plum ones, thats not unreasonable bur drive the market down a “pile it high, sell it cheap” path.
No good for anyone that, in the greater scheme of things 15-20 on the cost of a trackay is nothing once you take into account the overall cost for most, B&B’s, hire vans etc …
I just hope we don’t get one company cornering the market as that would be the unhealthiest thing.
Enjoy your instructing, for advice on how to go about it the right way, talk to Yorick or Prilla, both FE instructors and both good at what they do …
Re FE continuing to annoying customers, i can only say that the vast majority are more than happy and come back again and again.
Re: Company that folded. This was the European Superbike school. Tony who ran it was quoted as saying it would cost him up to £250,000
some years in court cases.
Yes i have spoke to Yorick but would like to think i`m not a bad instructor and am pleased to see riders benefitting from my knowledge and experience that i forgot i had and was of any use until i started with FE this year.
B, I did your evening trackday at brands today, and I have to say it was superbly run. There were a couple of spills but the marshalls did a great job of sorting everyone out and getting us out on the track again. It was my first trackday and I was pretty apprehensive but soon got into the swing of things and I will definitely be back. I saw the sticker on your visor and was going to say hello but didn’t get a chance in the end. Thanks for a great time.
Congratulations on getting your first trackday under your belt Johnny. Pity you didnt get a chance to say hello, i would have certainly spent some time on track with you. Maybe next time then. The riders were quite well behaved tonight, only a few spills but whoever dropped the oil at the hairpin made a good job of it. I guess youll be out there again soon, it is addictive.
