If using a wireless mouse and/or keyboard, weak batteries can cause strange effects. I had one about a month ago which would insert odd characters and often re-boot all by itself. New batteries in both mouse and keyboard completely cured it.

It’s got a plug in keyboard and a plug in optical mouse Jim:)

depends on the spec of the new tower
strange that they want to trade-in your old tower, havent heard of this before

Probably sell off the old components on Ebay and make back a few quid, dont blame them for that, also quite good to get rid of the old kit, save you from trying to get the council to do it.

£250 + old depends on the spec, post it up and we can tell ya if it is an IL4 or a V-twin

The trouble with getting a new motherboard is you have to be very carefull that the new board will take your old components. Ie: RAM, chip, graphics card etc. If you start getting your PCI’s mixed up with your AGP’s you’ll end up having to replace the whole lot anyway.

Just get a new machine or take the Px deal and have done with it.

no real problem, I’m assuming he can undo the case and read just list your existing ram (written on the label) processor type and socket (something like belarc advisor can tell you this,or read the BIOS) and whether its a pci or agp graphics card, also whether its an ATX or other format (measue it ), or you could just write down the details of the old mobo and ring up someone like overclockers.co.uk and ask for a suitable replacement.If you do take the px deal then either take out the HD (preferred )or format it to remove any private details
