Anyone into graffiti?

We are a London based graffiti and street culture site that is about to launch in the first quater of 2010! We represent the underground graffiti, music, club and general urban living scene in England’s capital city. We are looking for creative minds who want to make a name for themselves in journalism or graffiti subculture who will blog for us when the site launches in a few months.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in an area that would be of interest to our readers; be that in the world of graffiti and street art, urban fashion, or music and clubbing. We are open to suggestions if you think you have a knowledge of other scenes that might interest us. The candidate must have impecable English skills and an interesting writing style, with samples from their other blogs to prove it. This is not a paid role, but could be used to develop a name for yourself in sub-culture jounalism or could lead to a paid position as the site grows.

If you have your finger on London’s pulse, and are looking to develop experience in journalism, graffiti subculture or online communities, get in contact. While there are multiple positions available, only those who stand out from the crowd will get a response due to the high volume of responses we are likely to receive. Thank you and good luck.

ratty46 will be here soon

Not that fond of graffiti in general and detest tagging. That said, I’ve seen a few things that are actually quite good. By Highbury and Islington tube, there was “Ken Dodd’s dad’s dog’s dead” and at Finsbury Park there used to be a basic pair of big tits accompanied by the word “Tits”, which was pretty fine. Some of the more intensely worked full-colour stuff is striking; most Banksys or imitators are neat.

Nowadays it’s the random urban horticulture shock-troops that carry the swing. In Corsica St, Islington, there a phenomenal little patch that has been planted with many lovely species, really well thought-out bit of planting on waste ground. They just find likely spots and plant 'em up, suddenly there’s something amazing growing out of context in an otherwise meritless environment. I like

into Graffiti? i lived it…

btw Banksy isnt really graffiti…its street art stencils…tho banksy unlike alot of the stencil mob, has a proper graf background;)

i used to be part of a well know crew/group…i havent painted for a long time, nearly 6 years now…too old to get nicked…nearly too old for jumping fences:P

i could be intrested, tho it wouldnt be about making a name-already have one;), if i wanted to do that i’d go out and do it properly, ie get up on the street, then you will be known and taken seriously, not through a blog.

in saying that, if you have someone that truely represents graffiti and not someone that ‘thinks’ they do, you need someone that knows what they are talking about and knows graffiti history- something that is VERY important within the culture of writing (graffiti) also someone that has some sort of background in graf and is known, that would help with respects to getting writers onto the blog.

i dont paint these days, but i still sketch to keep the flow…

P.S - F*ck Banksy.

kool beans PM back at ya

LOL@Banksy…hes finished anyway…espcially if Robbo gets hold of him!:w00t::smiley:

I well hope Robbo gets hold of him. Would be hilarious!

+1:D

Not far from my house …

nice! is that by Cept? i know he did one similar…

is that a legal spot now?

thing is alot of writers leave banksys stuff alone, however if he shows no respect it will take no time at all to completly wipe out his work.

LINED.

Don’t know, but it’s on Sclater Street, just off Bethnal Green Road

i know a couple of graffiti people who do compete, ill give them a shout for u

Please do Pyro!

As for that piece, I believe it is a Cept, and I think it’s legal, sicne I’ve seen people painting daytime there in front of coppers. Maybe they were just being tolerant though, you know it can be a bit “grey area” sometimes.
