Anyone have any opinon on Fazer 8

I had my FZ1N serviced yesterday (24,000 mile major service) and they gave me a loan bike (Fazer 8).

After riding the FZ1N for a year i have become immune to the elements however i really noticed the difference yesterday with the fairing and how easy it was to ride without having to concern myself with holding on at higher speeds.

In terms of the engine, it obviously isn’t as powerful as the FZ1N but then it almost feels like you can ride it faster because of the partial fairing. In addition it is not as snatchy as my FZ1N can be a bit of a beast if you suffer with a heavy hand.

I commute into London daily but i also want something that i can ride properly at weekends which my FZ1N is perfect for.

I have read a lot of reviews on Fazer 8 that are mixed but generally negative.

I have been offered a good price for my FZ1N (i have done about 12,000 miles and they will give me £1200 less than i bought it for) and they are doing 36 months interest free.

Anyone got an opinion on the Fazer 8 or the FZ1N in comparison??

On the FZ6 forum there are mixed views, I wouldn’t mind comparing one to mine but I’d rather have the FZ1 fazer I think. Though for a commuter bike it’s probably pretty good and slightly thinner to get through gaps that a FZ1

Cheers mate. Unfortunately the majority of my riding is commuting so it probably makes more sense plus it does shift, probably better than the FZ1 from a standing start as they have fixed the fuelling issue making it a lot smoother.

FZ1N is rapid once it gets going but i have never got it close to its capabilities on a public road as i need my licence and you run out of road.

I am even considering a top box!!!

I believe that the plus point of the Fazer8 is it’s better fuel consumption when compared to the FZ1

Have you not considered a half or fully faired FZ1 if your happy with the power but want the stability of a faring?

Crickey!
I know they ruin the look, but damn they are useful without the hassle of wearing a rucksack or strapping something to the seat.

The power is not very smooth as first gear is too long - people have been moaning about this on these bikes for ages but they chose to make an FZ8 rather than fix the problem on the FZ1.

The FZ8 seems to have resolved this.
