Anyone got a lorry?

Help!! as a few of you on here know i have been trying to get a sectional garage so i can have a workshop in my garden so i don’t have to keep working in my kitchen(no room for leathers)well i have got a garage only problem is collecting it!..it’s in Dartford and im in Grays…and i never realised how expensive it is to hire a vehicle for a day to collect the sections, as im not sure on weight etc don’t know if i need a luton or a lorry? anyone on here know of anyone with a vehicle to hire (cheap)its got to be collected next weekend and im starting to worry now about transport…:ermm:

try pming adz hes southside of river

sorry i cant be of more help

If it’s a concrete garage it’ll be to heay for Adz’s van…your defo need a lorry

arrgh, there is a place on the way to Swanley (coming from Bexley area) that is reasonable and they have large Lutons. Problem is I cannot remember the name.

Will you need a crane to get the panels on and off the lorry ? Are they too heavy for a person to lift ?

I suspect that it will be in sections, two could probably lift each panel, if it has an apex roof the shear size of the trusses will cause problems for a van.

I would try to get a trailer and do multiple trips, If you can find a car with a tow bar you could borrow my trailer as long as you promise not to overload it.

Sorry cant really help as im in Aberdoom next weekend.

No crane would be needed as it would only take 2 people to lift each section, the roof trusses are’nt that big either as the whole garage is only 8foot wide! Not to sure but there is only around 20 panels plus the posts they bolt into, think a flatback would be easier for loading and unloading.

wasp, I have a flat bed trailer that will take 3 tons but am away in moscow next week until saturday…so only have Sunday…not sure of the economics of getting it around to dartford and back though but perhaps we can do a deal, you fix my leathers and I will help you get the garage…

Oooh now that sounds like a plan! call me please asap!

Edited to say - removed phone number & pmed it, Debs

any luck with this??

No…two strokes seems to like letting me down…:crying:

I have a car with a tow bar if you need it.

Ta for the offer yslart, but we have a car with a towbar as well but i still think we’ll need a lorry or something that’ll take the weight:w00t:

right… no promises here cos i need to speak to work but i might be able to get a lorry for saturday, like i said though no promises, ill ask em on monday for ya x

Thank you thank you thank you:D:D:D

hmm sorry work have let me down cos they need all there lorries this weekend but im trying to see if any of my mates have theirs free this sat :frowning:

Don’t worry curtis luvvie fingers crossed we should have one! will find out first thing tomorrow:D Thank you for trying though, cheapest quote going an all £90 for sat and return late sat night or before 9 on sunday… typical though its gonna be bleeding cold on saturday but between 3 of us we should get the garage shifted.

well good luck

Phew…all done but what a day! first we picked up the lorry drove over to dartford and hit our first hurdle…we couldnt fit the lorry down the alleyway into the car park where the garage was situated! So we had to go all the way back to grays and beg the hire company to let us have a smaller vehicle! luckily we got one and a mate came and helped us dismantle the garage and load and unload it, and it only took 2 trips:DSo now we are knackered but happy that i now have a garage…just got to re-erect it:doze:

Thanks everyone for the offers of help…much appreciated:D
