ANYONE BEEN TO CORK - IRELAND ?????

Ty has told me to get off my arse and go find a house in Ireland…so i’m off on Thursday

Has anyone been to County Cork and can tell me of any nice places down there???

I’m staying at Baltimore & Unionhall & Rosscarberry & Courtmacsherry & Kinsale… cos i want a sea view

but any info would be helpful

cheers mates

You have to pay a visit to Ballymaloe. Fanatic restaurant

would love to but its east of Cork and im going down south west

but cheers for that

was thinking of heading over in early spring next year… let me know if you end up going and what it was like.

m

Unionhall, its been a while but nice couple of pubs at the end of the bay, open all hours.

I know it well Salee. Most of my family on my mums side are from a little town called Castletownberehaven on the coast. Its a fishing village and thats what most of my uncles/cousins do for a living.

That is a nice little place with everything you need.Bit touristy though in the summer.

Baltimore is nice - My family is originally from Sherkin Island.

Cork was the European city of Culture in 2004(i think may have been 2005) so is the best big city in that part of Ireland.

One other thing - The roads in that part of the world are excellent for riding. The locals drive there cars around at break neck speeds.

thanks wolfie…i’m staying at Unionhall on Saturday!!!..blimey that’ll be a good nite then wont it…LOL

cheers mate

Thanks Damian…i’m steering clear of Cork as i want the quiet life but now you’ve said about the drivers i may not find it …LOL

one of Ty’s diving mates lives out there and his wife is showing me around Clonakilty which sounds nice but now wolfie has told me about Unionhall i may not get there on Sunday

cheers mate

Never been but Im going there to watch the rallying over St Paddys day weekend so let us know what its like

Only know Cork itself but love it. The countryside must be lovely

i shall find out on Thursday and report back upon my return on Wednesday

Buy a place in northern ireland, beautifull scenery, very cheap house prices, and as its part of uk, u dont need to worry about foreign papers etc, and getting your money changed

my bruv, has made about 100%profit in a YEAR in Co. Down

PLUS your closer to one of the finest motorcycle racing events in the world, the northwest 200

its not all about money (but it helps)…but our place in Cornwall fell through and we were told how much like Cornwall Southern Ireland was - a very pleasant climate…and its on the up!!

but you will never know unless you go look for yourself i always find

and i live next to Brands now !!

well northern ireland is the next big thing, according to BBC, lonely planet, and few other sources

RE: ANYONE BEEN TO CORK - IRELAND ???

No, but I’ve certainly tried emptying London!
(Its harder than it sounds)

brilliant Tobi …keep it up

well i’m back early…i saw all i needed to and decided its not for me

nothing wrong with the place at all…great food in huge portions, friendly people, very peaceful, NO LITTER, beautiful scenery, not too expensive, very quaint (houses painted all the colours of the rainbow), town centre shops that have kept their original shop fronts and brightly painted rather than all this chrome/plastic and glass frontage which we see in every town over here, i heard a great band in Skibbereen on Friday night, the Guinness tastes better than over here and they have just brought out a new line called Guinness North Star which was mighty fine …and good roads…(we visited one bar where the landlady was doing the ironing behind the bar while she served

so everything great but…

cant smoke in the bars at all (but we will be doing the same next year - i cant wait )…it was very difficult to understand them as they talk so fast and most of them speak native Irish whilst speaking English…and they drive like nutters…!!

so… lovely place to visit but i just didnt feel in my guts it was the place for me to settle (you know that warm feeling you have when you know your home, whether it be a house, County or a Country)…i’m going back to look again for a house in Cornwall…at least i wont have to fly/sail to get home

i hope you too will enjoy Ireland and all it has to offer
