I wouldnt mind going on it andy? Some of the money is going to air ambulance charity and im always up for helping them out…ever since i saw a bike accident and they had to call out the air ambulance, ive wanted to help them, esp since found out they get no government help…wait till one of them big wigs needs help !! THEN they will fund them…but yeh…sounds like it will be good…so if you are up for it mate…and any others? i will be in too…dont wanna go alone though…*(u know me, get lost going out of Dagenham!)

I’m up for if Andy

Honestly I reckon EVERYONE on here should be up for it…unless they’re millionaires of course.

Come on folks this is a serious issue. Do you WANT to pay extra just for riding, when you’ve already paid for training, protective clothing, insurance, security, the bike, its maintenance, the gifts for the wife or the husband after you’ve negelected them in favour of your beloved ride and most importantly…TAX!!!

If we’ve alreayd paid all this, why are we going to be paying more? STOP THE ROT! Join the RIDE FOR RIGHTS! October Wembley 12:30 - get onto MCN.com to find out more!

“A charge of £5 per rider will be split between charity and organisation costs - £2 will be split between Riders for Health and UK Air Ambulance charities and the other £3 will pay costs such as venue hire and marshalling. MCN makes no money from the sale of tickets.”

Another Slimelight turn out !!!

A protest about Biking Charges and they are charging you to ride !!

2 Quid spread between the masses and the lions share goes to Venues and Marshalls !!!

Venues and Marshalls eh !!..who are they ??..where have they amassed them from and what agreements have been made for monetary allocation and what for !!

What happened to “Donation”.

Me thinks MCN need for visit LB more often and pick up a few tips on this kinda stuff !!

Give me a Mikey, a Zeph Steve, a Stace and a Jimc, a Chaz and a Topgooner with a Mushka and I would have had this sorted for Nothing with a Major Collection thrown in for the actual charitys !!

That said, we could all turn up and tag on without paying the ticket price. We then do our own revenue raising for charity…they’re not going to kick us out for riding with them in protest are they…I think the idea of the Ride for Rights though is something that shouldn’t be lost in the “Slimelight” debate. The issue is important and should be objected to otherwise we’re ALL gonna be poorer and not have any money to give to charity at all…

Come on folks, this is your government, TELL them what you think about ROAD PRICING…

(Oh and don’t forget, to chrage you for use, they’re going to have to track you 100% of the time…sounds a bit Big Brothere to me! (and I mean that in the original Orwellian sense and not the vacuous bimbo’s in a house being bitchy sense :))

Good idea Toby. It would highlight the ‘issues’ with the organisers and be a protest of yet another body taking money off bikers. Plus it would really p*ss them off  And it being the MCN, would be splashed over their pages read my all (provided they submit it). Either way you guys play it, I’m in. A letter to MCN outlining your concerns would be in order too. A polite non defamitory one that is

Looks like a good cause. We’re in

Barro- Get it sorted for next year

I will be up for it too:) but don’t like the funding idea. more than happy to donate but not for venue hire WTF is that all about?

With you on this one barro:)

I’m up for this, but agree with the fee going to the wrong place :ermm:

I booked my place last weekend, wasn’t too chuffed about money to ‘venue’ ‘marshalls’ etc. but got in anyway - it’s for a reason we should all stand up and make a noise about.

Might be better to play this one by the book, and start planing an alternative (read: free / donations all going to charity etc.) for next year.

Good cause. I’m in!

I agree about the misguided fee though.

HOLD ON!

If we go on this one, great, it helps raise numbers and therefore profile…

But why is everyone suggesting that ours is done next year…the issue is HERE, its RIGHT NOW, the government is currently in negotiation adn discussion about this very subject RIGHT NOW. Next year will be far too late.

If we’re going ot do something as LB, we should be doing it the day after the MCN one or the week after…NOT a year later!

Good point - but we have to be conscious of the logistics of it too. I’m sure that if say 500 bikers went on a ride through London that hadn’t been ‘officially’ organised i.e. cleared with the police, local authorities etc. then there might be some grief from these parties.
Plus, I bet getting it officially cleared is no 5 minute process

PLUS now is the time to get optimum media exposure for the cause. Sod stealing some elses thunder… lets rain on their parade!

I won’t be about that weekend but would have loved to of gone.

up for it

Venue hire???A car park at Wembley and Whitehall???

Like to see anyone book Whitehall.

Marshalling???

Who in the biking world would charge a fee to marshall at such an event???

Just a money making scam on behalf of MCN.

Shame on you MCN

why not…i’m in, i sort a ticket/place asap.

i might be wrong but thought we are paying for the Metropolitan police escort. which sounds about right to me. anyway ive not got a problem with paying a fiver, i smoke more than that in a day.
