Any tips for carrying a spare lid?

What is the best way to carry a spare lid?

I was going to for the arm through the visor elbow in the helmet way, but I thought maybe someone had a better idea?

I got a top box for the GS but planning on going out and meeting some friends on the GSXR and will need to take a spare lid, and was wondering which was the best way to carry the lid.

Also I do not have a cargo net, as I just thought of that method, but I do have two bungie cords.

Buy or borrow a cargo net then, seen loads of people carrying spare lids on the back with cargo nets.

since you dont have a cargo net… try to secure it with the banjos (but not sure how safe that’ll be)

what about a backpack?

If your head is a lot smaller than your mate’s head then you could wear two helmets . . . means you get double the protection, less wind noise and nothing to carry

Alternatively, post the helmet to where you plan being, then post it back after it’s been used.

I don’t know what you’ve got as bungeeing points, but going from the pillion footpeg up, through the visor of the helmet and out the bottom towards something under the other side of the pillion seat should work, do both such that they crossover in the helmet and you’d likely find it’s fairly secure, assuming the bungees are tight enough.

That might work.

I also have a lid bag, that might help stop it bouncing around. Will have to take the stuff and see where I can go from there.

If you’ve a lid bag and it’s in reasonable condition, might be easiest to persuade it to be a rucksack of some sort.

It is of the bowling ball carrying type, so the handles are not quite big enough or separated enough to be used as a rucksack.

I am also concerned of the dangers of carrying a very tough, quite large round object on my back. A heavy fall could do quite severe damage. It wouldn’t fit in any of the rucksacks I have either, despite my fears I did check.

Just remembered though that I do have a gym type of sports bag, which has a shoulder sling that I could use, where the bag will rest on the back seat while slung around my shoulder.

That should push the bag off of my back in any accident situation.

Cargo net … I’v done it

helmet on top of pillion pad, straps done up and secured underneath

I use my shark cover and just use it like a ruck sack over my shoulder… easy as pie  If your coming to the Ace later i will show you a demo

I don’t really trust the bag that come with my lid to carry the lid, bit cheap and cheerful, it is probably fine, but too high a risk.

Took it in a gym bag, fit perfectly and was no problem at all.

cheak under the the seat, for, lid lock,or a place you can strap it to, and put seat back

hangs from the side, good luck

There might be a hook or similar on the underside of the pillion pad. You can hang the lid off that by the strap’s D ring.
