Any newbie riders out there or 125cc rideouts?

Hi, Bit of a newbie to the site and to biking…
I have a yamaha Virago 125 (Yep still on L plates im afraid!)
but am looking for some fun, simple paced ride outs to go on.

I have been to one of the meetups at Borough market and was told 125 rideouts
sometimes happen? Be great to know if there are some other new-bikers
and 125 riders out there who are in a similar position and level to get out
on the road with…

Cheers! S

Good man Simon, about time the 125 posse got together and organised a suitably paced ride.

Thanks Jetstream… take it your 125 days are way in the past then!?

I know most people on this site probably ditched their L plates sometime ago,
and going at a 125 pace probably seems like a bit of a snail ride now, but hey we got to start somewhere!

Just hoping to meet some similar level riders (on 125s…if there are any here)
to go out on some suitably paced but fun rides and trips out. If you are out there guys n girls
drop me a message and lets organise something or let me know if any rides like this
are already organised and happening!

There are a fair few 125 riders on here and L plate’s too

Arrange and they will follow.

Simon, I’m doing my DAS at the moment and I have a 125 so might be interested ( unless I pass my mod2 this week, in which case I will get a bigger bike :D) post something in the ride out section and people will turn up.

125 checking in

I dont go on many rideouts. Even those that state they are 125 friendly as they usually mean “We’ll ride at your top speed all day” which is just not very fun…
I’d be interested in a ride to a southend or finchingfield though.

Mate, matt rides at your top speed on his push bike

Good to see a few 125 riders checking in!

I see what you mean though Columbo if the 125 ride outs are basically paced at our top speed, can understandably
not be so fun trying to ride full throttle to keep up. As I said be great to just go on some comfortably paced rides
where there isnt the pressure to ‘race’ or keep up!

I admitably have a cruiser bike and thats what im after a nice
cruise out somewhere, even if its only within an hours ride or something. I’ve still to get down to the Ace
so be nice if anyone wants to go down there sometime.

Lets see if any rideouts come up or if theres some more interest perhaps we can arrange something.

set up a ride to the coast been to brighton, hastings, southend and eastborn on my 125 many times fun and a easy ride and this was all on my 2 stroke 125

BushcraftBarmy and myself would be up for that I would think. Been on some ride outs with the big boys, be nice to not be left in their dust :Whistling:
I’m sure if we have a chat to Terry-Moto he can suggest a couple of twisty routes on the way to a good fish’n’chip / burger joint…

ive never been into ride outs i normally meet up at ace cafe on odd friday nights here and there for bike night.

Hey Simon, yes I would indeed be up for some 125 rideouts!

I am on the case to get my DAS though, so it may be short lived.

If I can manage the financial aspect, I might keep the 125 as a day-to-day ride and the BIG bike for the weekends. I have to do the math to work out if having a 125 AND a 600 is cheaper taking into account depreciation, fuel, tax, insurance (the biggest factor) and so on…

But yeah, for now I’m on my baby Vara so let’s get some rides done before the sun goes…oh, it’s gone!

Add me on here if you like.

BB.

got a 150 and a 180-2t i ride now and then these days well a lot atm since i blown the bandit and the chops a frame for a bit…(pritty much a 125 lol)

hi all,
there is a nice bunch of people called “London Motorcycle Touring Club” (link to details here ) and because l had a great time on my 125cc with them lve decided to spread the news and invite more people to join :))) its just a friendly ride outs organised by experienced riders. most of the time start up point is Ace cafe  but it depends.

its free to join and free to participate:)

I am on 125cc (and a damn slow one!) but the day trips they organize are off motorways so anyone can join really

last one was amazing 30 bikes trip:)
so if anyone wants more details - let me know (pm me or just see link above)

:cool::cool::cool:

Time to resurrect this thread I think… before Simon82 thinks 125er’s are all a bit useless…

I’m happy to do a bit of a reccie ride this weekend and organise something for the following weekend (17th/18th August) if there is a bit of interest still that is… If anyone has an idea of where they might like to go, or where there are some nice roads to go play on (i.e. no long and straight) let me know and I’ll go hunting. If there are only a few of us we can always just point and shoot and see where we end up, which is always interesting.

I’m in, life permitting for one or two more 125 rideouts.

I’m tired of screaming the nuts of my Vara to keep up with the BIG bikes and riding a 125 on rideouts is just plain boring now. I need more horses!

It’s still fine about town doing chores and going to the gym, but that’s it for me. I hope to get something nippy just for the weekends if my wallet stretches enough

DAS theory booking is on another TAB as I post this!

Simon82, this is the server BOT. Take no notice if it… :exclamation:

Hey guys,

I’m on a 600 though I’ve only had it for a couple of months so it would be great to get on some slower and twistier rides, mind if I join? Should be able to pace myself so as not to piss everyone off!

T

You’re always welcome T!

Does anyone object to re-doing the ride out to that twisty Terry-Moto took us to (where we parked up in the parking lot by the canal). Could start at The Ace, ride out to the twisty for a couple of laps, then head to Boxhill for a bit of lunch and some bike porn.

Cool! I don’t think I attended that rideout so I’d be up for that route. Free on the 17th and the weekend after most likely.
